:?: Ok.first off...i dont know much about electronics..but give me a break im only 15...i want a faster car for the track but the 5m isnt what i want...I want a 2jz....I have access to a non turbo 2jz motor in a 89 supra...(supposuly the guy did a swap)..is it worth it ...he wants 600 bucks for the whole car....the only thing wrong is the back end is gone....i havent seen the car but i dont belive it is 2jz, but is it worth buying a non turbo 2jz for 600...the car can fire up supposuly...but i will provide more info as i get it...please give me your 2 cents .
NICE WORK NORBIE ,you make it look easy..(even though its not)
o yah and my brother is going to help me do the swap..including HARNESS..thanks guys

A 2JZ-GE for $600 sounds like a bargain, provided it's in good working order of course. Rebuilding a JZ engine ain't cheap.

i called the guy who owns it.he said the car runs. just that the rear end is trash. And he said the clutch is fairly new, the trans was rebuilt a year ago and the motor is running strong. He said it scared him when he wrecked so he wants to get rid of it.
can i use the whole harness out of the car.. and put it in my car(82supra).
:D .thanks and good write up on the SWAP..

Yes you can use the harness provided you have wiring diagrams for both cars and lots of patience. Good luck!

if you plan on putting the 2jz in ur 82, then buy the entire car, and sell parts off that to gain money, but make sure you have everything out of the car you need before you get sell happy.......if you dont know if its a 2jz, youll know when you pop the hood......and if you get a chance, id test drive it first and inspect the motor to see if there are any distinct things showing like.....oil stains, bad wear, belts....not expensive but hey, if ur short on cash, one less thing.....and just make sure ur not buyin a pile of shit motor that you would have to rebuild......Norbies right....it woudl be expensive as hell!
YOUR THE MAN NORBIE! LOVE THE VIDS OF YOU AT THE TRACK! BAD ASS SUPRA! :mk2vroom: :hail:

the car is wrecked.he said it runs, but doesnt drive. He said it has a rebuilt trans and the motor runs strong .THIS GUY IS A FRIEND OF A FRIEND.
will the 82 trans w-58 hook up with the 2jz, and if im plaing (and i am)will the w58 over 300??..
will the trans from the 2jz fit in stock location on the 82 or will the shift location be different??.
what about radiators...i want to take the one out of the mk3 but will it fit?..
other than the wire harness, and trans and motor mounts....will i have to get any other drive trane mods like shorter drive shafts?..thanks for all the help...
norbie: never mind ,will the oil pan fit the 82 from the 2jz..
and now that it is in a mk3 will the mk3 oil pan fit into the mk2 (IF IT WAS CHANGED TO FIT)

OK I'm struggling to understand some of your questions but I'll try to answer:
1. The W58 out of your car will bolt up to a 2JZ, IF you have a 2JZ-GE 5-speed bellhousing. The existing bellhousing has an M series bolt pattern which is not compatible with a 2JZ block.
2. The 2JZ W58 will fit in your car, it has the same external dimensions and mounting points so it will bolt right up. The shifter location is VERY different but it's possible to mix'n'match components from a Mk2 transmission to make it all work. See my web site for details.
3. Mk3 radiator will not fit in a Mk2 without modifications. Not really worth it, you're better off getting your existing radiator rebuilt with a thicker core if you're worried about cooling capacity.
4. If you're using a W58 you won't have to touch the driveshaft or any other drivetrain components.
5. Mk2's have a front-sump arrangement while Mk3's are mid-sump, ie NOT compatible.
6. When I said wiring diagrams I meant exactly that... I'm not sure how else to say it?

2JZ-GE wiring diagrams can be found on http://www.mkiv.com, and if you do a search on this site you should find MA61 wiring diagrams.
M series oil pan is completely different to JZ series oil pan and is in no way compatible.
I have no idea which oil pan the IS300 has; I can only tell you the JZS147 Aristo (Lexus GS300) and JZX81 Chaser (Cressida with a 1JZ) has the correct oil pan for a Mk2 Supra.
