View Full Version : Search for members
Hi all
Is there some way to search the members database?
I know you can sort by name, email, joined etc. but then you just have to scroll through pages.
I was looking for someone, sorted by name, and it would have been on about the 14th page.
So I clicked on page 4, then next, next, next, ... you get the idea.

yeah I found that searching can get pretty exhausting too! I wonder if there's a way it can be formatted to search for state, year/type of car stuff like that would be great!

I have had the same frustration. To find someone on page 35 for example you have to click "next" 35 times. Can't jump straight there.

Steven, I don't understand how to jump more than one page at once. True you can jump to page 3 immediately bypassing page 2, but from there on, it's only one page at a time right? Are you doing this at the bottom/right of the members page?

OK, here's the poop. When you do a search in the members section, it returns a list. The list is broken up into pages of 50 results each. If your search came back with 500 results matching your search criteria, you'd get ten pages. Here's where you get to flex your 1337 H4X0r skillz. The URL in the address bar lists what page of results you're on. For an example, I just listed all members. This is the URL:
http://www.celicasupra.com/phpBB2/memberlist.php
Clicking on the "Next" link takes me to
http://www.celicasupra.com/phpBB2/memberlist.php?mode=joined&order=ASC&start=50
From this URL, we can see that they're listed by the order in which they joined, which is the default I believe, and it starts with record #50. Simply deleting the 50 and putting in 100 will take us to page three, since starting with 100 gets us 100-150. Replacing the 50 with 200 will get us page five, and so on.
You may have to do a little math, but it's not too hard to skip by hacking that URL. PM me if you have any more questions.
