I thought maybe it would be cool to have chat rooms. One for each generation supra.

if you look at the top of the forum, there is a icon that says aim chat, if you actually are logged on to aim you can click it and go into a celicasupra chatroom for our cars. Other websites have this option as well, such as celica.net, and many others. Is that what you mean or something different.

About chat:

I've tried 3 different web interfaces... java based chat, php chat and even an old school html based chat that refreshed every 5 seconds or so. Problem is that no matter what chat room I installed, someone would complain -- "I can't log in" or "It doesn't work with my connection" or "It's too slow"

The last web based one I used was very cool -- PHP driven and a few people used it but I still got the "I can't get it to work on my computer" complaints, so I shit canned it and went with what we have now.

My thinking is that if you have a computer, you are capable of downloading and installing AIM (AOL Instant Messenger) and the cool thing is -- it's FREE. Once that's done, and you've created an account and logged on to AIM...all that's left is to click the "AIM Chat" link up at the top of your screen. I cannot make it any more simple than this guys.

Here is where you get it: http://www.aim.com
AIM 5.5.3572 for Windows 98/ME/NT/2K/XP (3.24 MB) -- If you're on dial-up, please be patient...it's a 3.2mb file.

As for the lack of use -- everyone needs to get into a routine of opening the chat room between certain hours, say 6pm to 8pm Pacific time or something. If there is no set schedule, it's not going to be consistently used by our members.

just to be clear, i was not complaining about lack of options. i appreciate your attempts at getting a chat working for everyone. i wish people would use it more.

i love the chat feature... usually when im on here during "normal" hours, i open it up and leave it open for a while.

a note on that... if im in the chat and but responding, just toss me a message through AIM, its probably cause im just not looking at the chat window for whatever reason.

I can't get it to work :D ..no, really, i can't. Does it not work if you're using trillian for aim?

Yes you have to click on the dot in trillian for aim you know the one at the bottom that lights up when youre logged on. Theres a selection there that says join a chat room, type in "celicasupra" and boom youre there.
