I know there is the search section for looking up people near you, BUT...
Over on www.customtacos.com (where i frequent daily) they added this user map that links to your profile and whatnot. I thought it was a cool idea and thought i'd share. The map would have to change a bit i know. We do have a lot of international members. 8)

youve gotta be registered to view the map, but it sounds like a neat idea.

we kind of have a feature like that, if you go to the suggestion box section and at the top it says who is viewing that forum, you click on thier name and it takes you to their profile, or if you see their name as the last post, and finally if you do search for a name and click it, it does link to your profile.

Yes but the point of the post is a map of the world with our individual citys/towns highlighted and linked to our profiles.

I'll look into how it's done & see if it can be implemented into our forum. The customtacos forum is an InfoPop forum, which is completely different than phpBB2 - however, if it can be done I'll figure it out.

Probably isn't going to happen this weekend though, and likely not next week either since I won't be in town. I'll let you know what I find out about the map as I mess with it.

Ok ok...sorry. I guess because the map idea is actually a GOOD suggestion (for once) ;) Just in a good mood today, not really working...doing car stuff in the garage and building a couple of computers on the work bench.

So I don't disappoint you completely, here goes:

1) Zank, please eat shit. Actually, have two helpings of shit. Oh, and a side salad to go. Also, sit on a Dremel tool and don't use lube.

2) Gera, "Skerd" is ghey. You are an asshat and a dingo should have eaten you. Go watercolor something or perhaps doodle, on the freeway with your eyes closed. Oh, and Zank said to tell you that the motel key for your visit with him tonight is under the door mat.

Any new updates on the possibility of a Member Map? I really liked that idea, it sounds useful.

I recently had to QA an application at work called Microsoft MapPoints.

All it needed to be fed was a sql filtered subset of address data and it would map a 'pushpin' on a scrollable, zoomable map.

One of it's downfalls is whatever microsoft chose as the 'matching' algorithm does throw out addresses if there isn't good enough data to 'map' it. So a 'cleansing' of the Location field of the cs database would be needed.
