check engine light diagnosis

i am getting a check engine light whenever i pass 3k rpms. if i turn the car off and back on the light is off again. any ideas on what it could be? or how to find out what it is? thanks for the help

Usually O2 sensor...check your codes as well...search my posts on similar issue for tech article on how to pull ecu codes...

My 84 Would throw a MIL after 4k under WOT almost everytime, just a restart would clear the code. Common issue from I remember.

probably knock sensor to be honest. the light will come on after 2500/3000 if the knock sensor wire is unplugged or loose

Ya, if the light comes on at low speed and doesn't go out KS. If its only while cruising and it goes out on its own, o2 sensor.

so where is the knock sensor so i check to see if it plugged in? i just put the engine in the car so its very possible i missed some things

It is on the block under the intake about 2-3 inches in front for the end of the starter.
