Sorry if this is a repost (I could not find another thread)

My hood release cable is too loose to release from the lever in the car itself. I looked, and after the hood it locked, the cable is not taut enough to release it. I need to manually pull the cable to release the latch. I can do that now, but once the bumper is on, I will not be able to do so.

Thanks for your help.

This is the Cable from where the battery should be.
Where do I bolt it or how to I fix it?

This is where I need to pull to release the lock.

IIRC, that cable doesn't go through the engine bay. It's suppose to go through the driverside fender. It's been awhile since I took mine out.

The cable is in the right spot... but the plastic piece on the end looks like it's broken...

The part circled is where mine broke

If you look at your latch in the gap... you can kinda see your cable, and it looks like it's broken in the same spot.

A cable is a cable and routing doesn't matter. Both ends of the sheath need to be secured on each end to function correctly.

Thanks for everyones input;

@romycha1 - Pulling on the cable itse;f will release the hood. I will check the plastic piece...

@SilverMk2 - Both ends are secure, that is a fact.

@7mgt-66e - My 1982's cable is exposed and has been since factory...

That's how mine was... I could pull on it and it would unhook the latch, but the release from inside the car wouldn't work... I'm willing to bet it's broken in the same spot mine did.

Sounds about right. I'll check it out tomorrow after school. Thanks
