hi everyone. my wiper was in bad need of replacement, so i went to a local yard to pick up a replacement. the motor hasn't been an issue, and the one in question is the driver's side.

the replacement came off of an 85, same year as mine. i removed the older one and put the new one on. however, now it doesn't work well in slow or mid setting, and when it's on high speed it whacks the trim when it's going up and only goes about halfway back down, meaning when it rests it is still mid windshield.

i don't think the motor is bad. perhaps something is off track? has anyone else had this problem or know how to fix it?

i used the search function and found someone else posted something about this issue back in 2004, but no one responded and he hasn't logged on since 2007.

thanks guys and gals.

remove the wiper arm, and bolt it back on in the position you want it to be in when you shut the wipers off.

You may not have torqued the wipers down enough to the wiper post. (I have done this before)
Take them both off of the posts, reset them the way you'd like it, and torque them down with your wrench pretty snug.
If they still smack the windshield trim, they are too far advanced on the posts.

Mine also started hitting the trim the other day. Happened to be the wiper/blades the had slid down the arm. I crimped down the last link point in the arm a little to keep it from sliding out again.
