So i know the 6m GE and 5mge are related but im wondering if i could pull a starter off a 7mge cuz theres a cressida limo in the junkyard not far from my house and im wondering if i can yank the starter from a 7m and stick that ol studdin on my 6m cuz ordering over night parts from japon is expensive.
its gotta be ready for race wars so time is of the essence.

at least you will know your getting a good one, and pulling one out, can sometimes be a pain in the ass.

i believe all supra starter's are the same... doesn't matter the tran's. as far as i know a 2jz 6spd , 5spd and auto starter are all the same as all previous year's.. 1j starter's are the same as 7m.. 7m same as 6m and 5m.... i belive the whole m series is the same even the way early modles..

Correct so long as It's a M or jz bellhousing.
ie, a starter for a 22r will not work. even through they did come with w58's. cause the bell is an R series bell on a W series trans'.

well that make it more difficult for you, i do have one in good shape, there are parts all over the country, shipping will not be that bad, will fit in that medium priority mail box, not sure is like $11 or $16. let me know if you want it.

Does the starter just click? You can probably just remove it, take the little triangle-like steel cap off the end of it, and see how the contacts look. If you can find an automotive electrical shop nearby, they can sell you the 2 little "L" shaped copper contacts, and a new disc/plunger assembly. Much cheaper than buying a new starter. Can probably do it for between $40-$50 bucks.

I can ship you a starter for $15, flat-rate, USPS. Takes a couple of days. $25 for the starter makes a total of $40. PM me

Hey that white Cressie Limo is still at the junkyard, and the starter is still in it. Only 65 thousand miles on the car, so I grabbed the alternator from it. :) Here's how it looked as of saturday:
