I've searched everywhere and I still can't seem to locate replacement Fog Light bulbs for my 84 Supra. The bulb # is 1540, but I guess they are no longer available. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You have a choice, you can pay $22 at the Toyota dealership. or you can get a "H3" bulb (55W) at Walmart (or any auto store) for $5. The H3 oddly isn't listed, but it is what you need.

Sylvania makes 2 types available at Advance Auto Parts...
1156LL or 1156ST for under $8 a pair.
Let me know about how you get to the assembly....I need to replace one of mine, but it's still too cold to try and remove the grill...27 yr old plastic clips on my "83, don't want to break "em...

try spraying WD40 OR ARMOR ALL, from the inside, on the clips, helps a tad.

The only problem with most LED bulb replacements when you compare the stated lumen output, is that a traditional bulb will have more output. LED light tends to have a narrower band / range of light, and can appear more intense, however, generally their light output is lower, more focused and intense. That's another problem the light is focused and directional/focused. NOT Omni-directional.

For example:

H3 Hella (http://store.classicgarage.com/h355wclhabu.html) - 55W, 1800 Lumens

...Yet to find any actual rating on LED bulbs... yet.

1156 bulbs are not for the fog lights.

Your right Danny, I finally got the grill off today, and found the "other" bag of bulbs I had purchased a couple of years ago...it's an "Eiko" H3 equivalent, part number 01007, that I found at O'Reilleys...must have used the Sylvanias in the rear running lights....sorry.

I bought a couple of the H3 55 Watt bulbs, but they are in their own socket with a single lead wire attached. I'm guessing I got the right bulbs, but do I use the supplied socket instead of the supra's? I guess I was expecting to just buy the bulb and replace, now I kinda confused. Sorry, but this is all new to me. Continued advise is greatly appreciated.

Thanks, I got confused by the parking light bulb. For some reason I was convinced that I needed to replace that as well in order to make the fog light itself work...:duh:
