my name is jeremy. im pretty quiet on this forum, i use search a lot or get help from 83zed&supra. but im stuck on this one ladies and gentlemen :/ i have a 1983 supra with an 84 5m. i bought it from a guy who got it from an auction.so i got it and it sat for about 6 months with out being ran. so now that i was getting it ready to drive i let it run for a half hour and it smokes when it warms up, in the middle of the gauge. wen i give it even a little gas it looks like a smoke show but the oil looks nice and honey and clear. also when i start it idles rough for like five seconds. i put five gallons of premium shell gas. it has been started and ran for ten minutes twice a week for like three months and it still smokes wen it warms up. i replaced the o2 sensor already and i cant remember wat burning coolant smells like haha. smells like exhaust still. POTENT! ive asked mechanics that go to my store and i get diff answers like the valve seals or bhg or old chems in the system. i dont know where to start and i dont want to pull the head if its not necessary

Good thing you asked. Blue smoke is oil being burnt, white smoke is coolant being burnt. Oil being burnt usually means valve seals are bad or piston rings, coolant is usually bad hg. Good luck and keep us updated, DylanM

IMHO i would say leaky valve stem seals if it only smokes while after it sits and warms up cause the oil will leak down into the cylinders while sittting then stops after being warmed up, if you had a bhg your car would most likley be blowing white smoke fairly often, even after warmed up. all you can really check with out pulling stuff apart is watching your temp gauge, and keep checking your oil and check where the head meets the block for anything. and do a compression test. check sparg plugs when cold. after running for a lil bit and warm. just my two cents. some one with more knowledge may be able to help you more but thats a start. good luck my friend :)

Do a compression test and post up the results. 5M's usually don't blow HG's.

thats wat i heard as well (bhg on 5ms arent a typical thing) i ordered it on sund. just incase i ended up needing it. and today was the day 83zed&supra and i would try to eliminate all the possibilities other than blaming the hg. i did the comp test and my numbers on avg were around 150lbs, normal? and i had spark sooo we asked eachother wats missing? GAS GAS AND GAS. we looked under the intake man. and found a busted injector connector. i hustled to reseda ca and picked up the only connector available in a 30 mile radius, rushed home and plugged it in.... yayyyyyy! cyl #2 now works resolving the bad hesitation problem and rough idling. as far as the white smoke, i let it run for 45 minutes revving it up and idling a little no over heating at all either. now no smoke at all!!!!!!!!!!! im a happy camper now. now to get my insurance, registration and smog and attend the socal supra meet in irvine CA. thank you guys so much for support, if it wasnt for 83zed and this forum id be stuck with an unfinishes supra. :salute:

P.S. should i sea foam it to clean it up?
