In my haynes manual for the 85 supra it states that valve adjustments cannot be made manually, and that it is automatically done using the hydrolic lash adjuster. The engine was rebuilt not to long ago and the valve tapping started about a month and a half after I bought it. Is there anyway to adjust these? Shims perhaps? :? :?:

From what i've read its not possible to adjust. Maybe they arent getting enough oil. If I let my oil level get anywhere near low I can start to hear tapping from my valve train.

Could easily be low oil level. The only thing I can think of too reset your lash is too bleed the hydrualic adjusters and letting them set. They should take up the slack though.

The lash adjusters, when functioning properly, remove all clearance and maintain zero lash. They're hydraulic and non-adjustable.
