2nd Norcal Japanese Classic Car Meet 4/23/11

Hello everyone I was so amazed by the turn out of last years meet that I have decided to have another meet. I hope that we can have an amazing turn out like last year. I was completely blown away by the sheer number of car that attended even on a short notice.

One thing that will be change from last year is that there will be food for sale at the event this time cause last time the pot luck dint really work out seeing that there was way to many people to do a pot luck haha dint real expect 150+ cars to show up.

Hopefully you guys can attend this meet it should be fun even if there are not many attending seeing that there will be food and remember that these types of meet are around so we can share are common interest and exchange information its always nice to learn something new.

All Old School Japanese Cars are welcome to attend, but if your car is not currently running, just bring whatever you have! Come out and support your local Classic Japanese car scene Bring your Classic Datsun, Toyota, Mazda, Honda, etc. Come represent your favorite make and model.

Oh and one more change has been made to the event I will be donating the profit money from the thing that will be sold at this event to the Oakland Children's Hospital & Research Center. So I hope you can attend cause it’s for a great cause it’s not just to keep our car community tight but also show that are community is there to support a greater cause.

No attitudes, No revving/burn-outs/racing will be tolerated!

I should be there, but aren't you going to miss most of the meet doing this side trip?

Just a hint but altamont pass rd is pretty much a straight line with traffic. I'd recommend going over patterson pass rd for a good driving road and much shorter. If someone is brave there is a good spot to catch a photo of an airborne Mk2. Flynn road is pretty awesome too, but short. Tesla/Corral Hollow is very long with a big straight towards the freeway, but the center section is nice. I cut thru most of these roads on the way home. Patterson pass is pretty awesome, but narrow with a lot of blind corners.

If you can make it up to Stockton before I leave you're welcome to ride along. I'm pretty sure I'll be going alone to this one.

Sorry derrick i cant make the livermore run before the plesanton meet. Sounds like it would be a blast but i have me an my buddys ae86 coming down and the round trip would be over 300 miles which is a little more than we would like to drive. We will however be in plesanton in the morning and afternoon so we'll see everyone after the mk2 run.

aren't you going to miss most of the meet doing this side trip?

Derek estimated the tour arriving at the meet around 12:30 if I remember correctly. When we planned this, we weren't confident of the location of the event - the planner hasn't responded to my e-mails. Derek called the venues and we are pretty sure it is going to happen there. The sure thing is that this is going to be a great tour and should be a fun day!

Here are the directions to Del Valle Regional Park where the show will take place. It is in Livermore, not Pleasanton.
Del Valle Regional Park is located on Del Valle Road off Mines Road south of Livermore (parking fee). Exit I-580 eastbound or westbound in Livermore at North Livermore Avenue. Head south and proceed through town (North Livermore Avenue will become South Livermore Avenue in town). About 1.5 miles outside town, turn right at Mines Road, go about 3.5 miles and continue straight on Del Valle Road (Mines Road turns left). The park entrance is about four miles ahead.

You should show up for the rally. If you decide to do the car show only, you can always drive straight to there after we take off. We should be at the event around noon thirty.

Supra Derek (aka Spoker Derek) has done a nice writeup of our Saturday Tour.

Well, those who could not come yesterday to Livermore missed a fun ride and an interesting all-Japanese car show to boot. We left Livermore with nine cars which quickly dropped to eight as Bryce (bad1bryce) got hooked by the local cop for tinted windows. Nick Castagnolo (Nick83GTS) was waiting at the show when we arrived.

Aaron (SilverMK2) of Stockton led us out over the twisty Patterson Pass Road in his awesome Mark II with a 2JZGTE conversion. We are hoping he will bring it to Long Beach for the All-Toyota Fest on Saturday, 14 May. The informal car show in Del Valle Park had some very interesting rides and a very fine group of guys and gals. We hope it will be an annual event – this was the second year of the show.

Steve (sowsley) has put together some pics which you can access through the link below.

Thanks to all those who showed up. Let's hope we can do better in attendance next time.

Supra Derek (Spoker Derek) still has a lot of free parts from his '84 Mark II. Don't make me throw them away!

The meet turned out to be very nice with all the cars that were there. I was impressed with all the Datsun 510s that were in attendance. If you go to ratsun.net there are two pages of photos. Also go to www.japanesenostalgiccar.com for three pages of photos with some nice shots of the supras and celicas that came in after the cruise. Was nice to see Derek, Steve, Tyler and the rest of the group again.

Thanks for the tip on other pics, Nick. The ratsun.net link is here, and pics begin on page 6. As you can see, Northern California is green and beautiful in April.

Here's some none Mk2 pics from the JNC meet. Suprisingly a lot of classic Toyotas and not very many Z cars. Pretty diverse overall though. One of each of the first 3 generations of Skylines was a treat.
