I have these weird wet/oily spots in the interior of my car. It feels/looks like engine oil. What can cause these wet spots?

The wet spots on the dash have always been there since I bought the car. I would wipe it clean but later on they always came back. It usually gets wet around the lower part of the dash.

I never noticed the wet spots around the floor/center console area until I removed my carpet. It usually gets wet around the area where I put the green circles.

This is the drivers side floor.

My drivers side door also leaks water whenever it rains. What can cause this? After it rains I'll open the door a week later and there's still water leaking out. The water gets trapped in the rubber molding and when I go to open the door water comes pouring out of the hole where I put a green circle.

Your car is haunted. ? Sorry the oil spots are crazy you wipe it away and they come back. Huh I would say it's blowby somehow in the vent system? Or your windshield seal is leaking. But to have oil leak from the roof. That's just weird. What do you park under? How long does it take to comeback once you wipe it?

You door could be bad seals near the upper window. And the door drain holes could be clogged up that would explain the long draining.

I'd say its your heater core. Make sure those holes in the bottom of the door are open!

I have the same wet spots on the driver side, recently found them. Seems like Brake fluid to me.

My Speedo cable leaked oil in my black 85. slowly soaked the carpet and dash all around..

brake fluid wont leave residue on the dash, but turning on your heater and having humid condensed coolant drip off the top of the glass is more than likely.

Could be the seal around the windshield, perhaps somebody cleaned the gasket with mineral spirits or used rustproofing around the seal and it's penetrating causing condensation drips, that's my guess anyhow. How else could drops get on the dash and centre of console and floor with no apparent trail? Could be that your ac drain tube is plugged, my evaporator frosted up under heavy use or high humidity which caused leaking from the vents when it thawed.
At least you know she's still in her prime, lol, good luck with that!

It might be the heater core and the fluid is being blown up when the defroster is turned on.... it happened to a jeep me and dad worked on.

^ makes sense, come to think of it I recall that happening in my Toyota Corolla wagon some years ago, or could be a combination of all the above...ohh, the dreaded heater core fix :duh:
