Hi, I've just started tearing down my 85 P-type, looking for rust. Most of the interior is out now, but I ran in to a snag taking out the taillights. Looks like the corner/quarter panel light is connected electrically to the main taillight, with no convenient harness connection in between. Do I have to cut the wire to the corner light, or is there a smarter way to remove these?

You twist the light socket of the quarter panel light 1/8th turn and pull it from the light assembly (from the back). Then you pull the light socket/wire through the body back to the taillight. There is a hole (socket shaped) in the electrical panel of the taillight, that you insert the quarter light socket into for storage. The hole is also used when Toyota ships brand new taillights. You then remove and unplug the rear electrical panel from the taillight.

Worked like a charm, thanks for the info.
