My 85 Celica Supra has the original 225.60.14 tires, but one can also apparently use 205.65.15 tires. Could anyone comment on the implications of using the 205 tires, e.g., handling characteristics, gas consumption, etc.
Tks.

You need 14" tires for 14" wheel. 205/65/15 aren't going to work on the standard 14x7" wheel. 85 L-types came with a 15" wheel you could use them on but they are only 6.5" wide and look kind of funny IMHO.

205/65/15 is the actual stock size for the 15x6" 85 L-Type wheels. Dont recommend using these wheels on your P-Type, due to the different offset.
And yes. Tires that are meant to fit on a 15" diameter wheel are not going to fit on 14"s. Unless you can perform some sort of magic act.

Good luck finding the 225/60/14. Nobody carries this size tire! I'm trying to get 4 of them myself and am having to have them ordered, although my selection of brands is limited by this "uncommon" tire size.

I have a set of the 15x6 l-type wheels. They look very nice shod with 225/50's. About 3.1% smaller than stock, but not bad. You can get Kumho's or Sumitomo's in that size for $51-56 each. A nice upgrade option for '82-84 l-types.
