I was driving through williamsport to go wash my car and I turned the corner at maynard street onto third street. I notice the cop on third street at the light going the opposite direction. I looked in my rear view and I saw him make a u-turn in the intersection and my natural response was "SHIT! what did i do this time?" So he turned his lights on, i pulled over and got all my info together and gave it to him when he approached my window. I asked him what i did wrong and he asked "what year is this" I replied "85". He then asked "This kinda looks like a celica... what is it?" I replied " it's an mkII supra...close to the celica though , but the front looks different". Then he said "This is in pretty damn good shape for an 85" then I said " yea, but it needs work". then he said have a nice day and then we drove our seperate ways. Now why did he pull me over ha?

arghhh I hate when cops give ya heart attacks like that! My hubby was stopped outside a pawnshop once and the cop was asking about my car. Hubby was freaked out thinking the registration was revoked or something, lol

...bastards...
I wish I could be a cop and harass people for kicks, lol

If I pulled a U-turn in an intersection to check out a Supra I would probably be busted
On the other hand the cop went to all the trouble to admire your car you should be flattered and relieved :D

I scared the shit outa some couple this weekend like that.....the first mk2 i actualy saw driving on the street, so we followed him. I was in my friends 92 300zx tt, and my other friends were in the Astro van. We followed them for a while, flashed our brights, tryin to get their attention and to pull over. The Astro van got up side em, and finaly they pulled over, the dude looked scared shitless, so I started askin him about his car and told him I have an 85, he told me he was from Iowa, and that hes not here much except for every other weekend, says he lives in La Vista like me, but Ive never saw him before. I was tryin to warm up the the celicasupra part, but he must have been scared shitless cuz he cut the convo short and took off. I was later told by my friends in the Astro that the dude was like clutching his steering wheel and him and his g/f where holding hands, and she was lookin all around worried and shit.....I felt pretty bad, but I had to do something.

Think of it from thier point of view...While travelling through a strange town in a different state a truck and car force them off the road...
see where I'm going :)
Not a put down...just a humerous observation :bigok:

Yes Brandon, I'm well aware that for you, seeing another MKII is a very special & rare event... However I tend to agree w/ dohc82, this was probably not a very wise move... Be glad that the driver didn't bring out a weapon or called the cops..... Because some of us might have done this.... Assuming that one of us had not gone postal first......

Now if you had been by yourself & went up to the couple in a nice calm manner w/ your "nice Supra" speil, then they probably would have been okay. 1 sports car, a Van, and a bunch of teenagers that more or less basically ran a Supra owner off the road, because they've encountered a "rare" event.. I would have been freaking out as well... Had MY girlfriend been with me, she would also have been in a serious panic. :crazyeye:

Chalk this up to a good learning experience on "How not to" meet new MKII owners. And I'll leave it at that. :D :D

haha. If another supra started flashing its lights at me I'd just assume it wanted to race. Having lived in the MidWest for a while in a past life I beleive you that mk2s are few and far between. There is a serious lack of Japanese cars there. I guess, the reality is that I'm just used to WA where there is a disproportianately high number of Japanese cars vs the rest of the country. Anyways, try not to scare the locals, they might have shotguns

I've whipped around to follow a mk2 before, but I decided not to follow when I looked over and she seemed to be a snobby upper class chick, I shut it down and drove away.
If I ever feel I am being harassed by another driver, which I have been a lot, I torture them right back, or I disapear into traffic or down a side road.

been there, done that. after i bought my car, mk2s were showing up EVERYWHERE at my school. it was weird. we now have 1 white celica gts, 1 black celica, 1 82ish, my 85 and a mk3 turbo....strange. Oh and the girl that drives is the 82 is a biotch and mk3 is one of my good friends, heh.

well it also might have been different if he was in an mk2.....he was in a 300zx and a van, i'd have stomped it and tried to get away.....

when people follow me i wait till theres a turn take it without slowing down (50kms/hr) and hit the gas for a second, if they catch up its on and i leave em in the dust, if not they weren't following me.

He wouldnt get away from the 300, trust me. yea I coulda gone about it differently, but I have tried, you guys just dont know about it. Ive put notes on a few cars tellin em to check out celicasupra.com and such, and nothing, so I have tried, this was a last resort...and its not like I could have got home and got my supra and then been right where they were. If I could have, I would have, but the van thing was not me, I was in the 300, my friend decieded to go up next to him on his own....anywho, its not that big of a deal....I dont understand the scared part though. I guess some people are just afraid of everything and anything......Im sure if I was tryin to like get him or something I think I would have had him cut off and stopped and got out of the car....but no one thought about that...anywho....that did hapen to me one night....some dueche bags followed me around however it wasent as polite as I was, they slammed on their breaks and had me stoped and got out of the car, so I guned it around them, they through glass bottles at my car, so I lead them to a couple of cops, and they got scared shitless and took off, never did find out who they were. But I wasent the only person this happened to...apparently it happened to quite a few people her in omaha.....no one knew who it was, so the local racing forum grouped up and went on a manhunt....never heard the results, but as far as I know, none of that has occured again.

Ok.....this is what all the jiberish is supposed to mean:

I didnt think that just following was that scary, cuz if I really wanted to scare him, we would have cut him off in the middle of a street and got out of the car.....

Wich one night, I was followed, but it was totaly different. It was a big ass SUV with about 3 or 4 people in it, and they actualy cut me off locked up the breaks and then got out of the car, so I busted out the other side and took off, as they followed me, I did 60 through my apt. complex and goin through neighborhoods, and I also did the turn while they were in front of me, but there was no traffic at midnight....they stoped in the middle of the street, backed up and followed me. They also persisted to throw glass bottles at my car, tryed to hit me, and tryed to ride my ass, so I led them to where I knew a couple of cops would be just to scare them....they took off like a bat out of hell....I didnt call the cops or go to the station.....I just drove by them.

And apparently I wasent the only person in Omaha to have expierenced that, on the local forum around here people (many people) had said they had incountered events like i had. So the forum page started a man hunt so to speak and after that, no one ever heard anymore about those situations..

clear it up a lil?

Yes,cleared up a little,but the fact reamins,you all did a similar,though lighter scale aproach.I'd have shot your ass :!:

---Unknown car with unkown peeps----I out run you,if that's not possible,I'll either run you off the road,or pull out the hardware.....PERIOD!

More friendly approach.....Pull up next to them,1 car only, wave and try to aknowledge they have a nice car.If they want no part of it,let it go.Do not box another car in,or seem overbearing.People can and do get scared of the unknown.Put yourself in there shoes.

XR,
Not only did you say you were following them (with a car and a van), but you guys were flashing your lights too. If I was them, I would have been scared too! Around here, if someone flashes their lights in a residential area it's because they want to sell you drugs. If this happens on a major road, it means the driver behind you wants to pass you. So I would have either tried driving away or I would have moved over. Now, imagine, here I am minding my own business and I try to be nice, but you keep on following me doing the same thing. Sorry, dude- you are now a bunch of psycho killers after me in my mind. Maybe you don't think about these things in the midwest, but I sure think about it! (Remember all the carjackings in Miami, FL in the 90's? I'm an hour from Miami).

Im kinda surprised you guys actualy know shit like that (gun pulling, drug selling) goes on here too. Most people would have been thinkin that we are all frendly hicks and that its normal.....and thanks for continueing to tell me that I didnt do what you would have done guys! I think I get the damn point  maybe you should tell me one more time I dont think I get it yet......no i know someone will be a smart ass on this one and do it....but anywho, I get the point, not what you would have done, but its what happened and I cant change it.....so like I said before, no longer a problem, no longer a big deal......btw, lights were only flashed twice, and again I did not tell my friend in the van to do that, he did it on his own.

In all actuality I think we followed them 3 or 4 blocks, 6 tops...cuz when we saw him, it wasent too long after we cought up and followed, and we were stuck in some trafic, so it took a lil while to catch up............

WTF am I trying to defend myself to people I dont know and dont know me for? Ill stop.

PS if this comes of smug or assholeish, advanced apologies.....had a really shity day and I need to vent a lil.

I live on a moderately-busy street, and I've had lots of people pull up in the driveway and try to talk to me.

The first guy was in a Nissan Altima, late 30s. Scared the livin crap outta me, I happened to have a screwdriver in my hand at the time (under the hood working) and he pops up, I held it like a dagger until he left... I kinda scared him off, I think.

The second was a group of two Supras, wanted to know if I'd sell mine (hell no! I says) but as they were Supras I felt better, actually found out I went to school with one.

The third was a 40ish guy in a Niiice red Celica, no rust, turns out he lives in the neighborhood. Did I mention it was rust-free?

I guess, looking back at the pattern, as long as it's a Supra/Celica pulling up to me, I feel alot safer talking to some strange person. If I don't see that Toyota, I think they're trying to rob/stab.shoot me. Maybe that doesn't show much for trust, but if you trust EVERYONE, might just end up they weren't deserving of it and stabbed ya. With a knife. And that would so totally suck.
