Twin Turbo 4.5 DOHC V8. Those rims would look great on our car too.

nice, very sexy Z, but those wheels look a little too big IMO, about 2" smaller would look better. It's such a small, sleek car, big wheels with big spaces look kinda silly
Other than car is awesome. I guess Zs are probably the most famous import V8 swap

Ummmm..... isn't this the same car in the v8 section?
And isn't it a 280z?

my lazy butt hasn't gotten over to the V8 section yet, but I know that isn't a 280Z
Here's a pic of my girls '79 280ZX to compare:

notice the rear quarter glass and front nose are slightly different

280z w/ v8 power (http://www.CelicaSupra.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=7855)
I don't know the Z's very well, i was just guessing from the other thread.
It does look a lot like the 280 i am/was helping wire for a 350.

*edit* the other site says it's a 240... oops

I guess it has been posted there, why I have no idea. It isn't a Toyota. Still a sweet car and a V8 conversion.

yea thats definately an early 240z..... i have the same car on my desktop right now ha. Oh and there is a difference between the 280z and 280zx. the 280z was before 1979 and was 6 inches shorter then the 280zx. I wish i had my 280zx up and running and looking like that....its so noice! :shocked!:

z and zx only stands for efi and carb right?

no. they are totally different cars. l28's a pretty close, but as you stated one is carbed, the other injected. the chassi of a z and zx are different as well.

That is a beautiful car! My dad has a '83 turbo 280zx. We both love the I-6 and the bodylines.

As a former Z car owner, they are hard to beat in terms of style (Japanese)
and many parts that are *still* available for them.
And they are fun to drive.
Just they lost the edge against Toyota (at least starting in 82)
in terms of interior quality.
They also experienced the same problems as the MK2. Rust. :-(

Re: the crazy conversion.....what did they do to the 240Z dashboard???? The early Z interiors were pretty cool with the 3 gauges in the center console.
True JDK - those 79-83 280ZX's rusted out right after they left the showroom

Speaking of 280's, finally got some pics (http://www.celicasupra.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=85993#85993) of the one I'm helping with.
It's pretty nice....

amazingly, my friends 280ZX has no rust that I could see. Sitting in her car felt like riding in a log truck, suspension was so stiff but yet I felt like my ass was riding 2" off the ground. NONE of her gauges worked, the clock, voltmeter, oil gauge, water temp, nothing read right. Only the speedo and tachometer worked.
I always wanted a 280ZX, until I rode in hers. I decided my mkII was way more comfortable
