thats either a w58 or r154. the gettrag has external shifter linkage. prolly a r154 as the bellhousing looks brand new. i cant see a reason to buy a new one unless you had to order it from toyota for a jza70. good luck with it though.

what bellhousing does the R154 need to bolt to the 2jz? im assuming a 2jz-GE 5 speed bell?
thanks

i believe the 1jzgte used an r154 tranny. the 2jzge uses a w58.

I hope Nelson don't mind me spilling the beans but, he is going to go standalone SDS on the car. Hey Nelson if you see this post before I talk to you I already started polishing the valve covers and they are gonna be nice. I will talk to you in a few days or I will just see you @ the meet. I hope to be finished with the covers and the intake chamber before saturday. My wife said that I can buy the 82. Wish me luck.

Wow, $3200 seems like a pretty good deal. Was that a JDM RHD front cut?
If so don't the JDM 2JZGTEs have smaller turbos, injectors, less power, etc? Either way that's a good deal. Where did you order the front cut from?
SIMARON
06-03-2004, 04:40 PM
I bought from the guy in florida, he told me he got the wrong front cut so he sold it to me eventhough he lost some money......You are correct it has smaller injectors and turbo but no worry I'm planning to convert it to single turbo and bigger injectors.....I just want to get it running with the twins to begin with....

Yeah well even if the JDM 2J is "only" 280hp (vs 320hp) it'll still get the MK2 movin hella quick and you'll pick up a bit of extra power with intake and exhaust that's almost mandatory with a swap.

with even smaller turbos there should be almost no Turbo Lag I would think.

What is this hiding behind my back.... it was posted eversince May 28 and I have not even seen this post until now and I am the few of the people who helps in this project....
BTW... Mike (Smooth185) the valve covers does not look as good as yours... I think I know why??? J/K
in behalf of Nelson..... the car is almost half way done..... sorry to spill but I cant help it
we are just waiting on the intercooler from the chimp and the turbo side intake piping going thru the fenderwell... and the DP is done except the cat and cat-back is still in the progress....
The SDS will be installed once the intercooler gets piped and welded already so that we can get it towed to our GUY who will install and tune the MK2.... and I heard from nelson of a xx.00 psi

Hey Jay, Nelson said that they looked better than he expected. When he came to pick them up he asked " is that my stuff" he seemed to be happy with it. Did he tell you that I burned up a polisher doing his parts. I have since replaced it thanks to my wife buying the extended warrenty. Hey I work this weekend but I will come over that way next weekend.

i think ma 67 is a later model thing. my 86 is a 67 (the serial number on the firewall says 61 though) and the vin and firewall on the 84 parts car says ma61
ps im in canada, unless u meant north america
No-one really knows!
My Supra has MA67 and MA61 on it, and I'm in Australia.

what years are yours ....simaron's is a later model mk2 which would make it ma67
mine is a 82 and it says ma61...

there is no real position to this cause you can look at the vin plate and it will say MA67... but look at the chassis number and mine say it is a MA61 in it... only Toyota will have a final say on that... since the main port of production is JAPAN.... and our cars is imported!!!

as per being off topic is alright cause I dont care... just ask away about the swap and I can give you some details if ever SIMARON did not get a chance to answer it yet for you guys...
BTW I talked to him yesterday and he told me that the intercooler has arrived so it is getting close just to mount the intercooler and weld up the intercooler piping then it is ready for the SDS install

cool then. my question is about the MA6x (x cause the last number shall remain nameless) cross member, and more importantly how similar it is to a MX73 cross member. i assume they would be rediculously similar in engine mounting points, and again more importantly, for doing a JZ series swap into the X chasis. i saw turbomk1`s post about his mounts and frankly im quite interested.
i PMed him a few weeks ago about getting to a swap on my car but never recieved a reply. if youre reading this PM or email me @ projectxxx@comcast.net
i dont have a welder (do have access though) and currently dont have the space or time or desire to complete an engine swap in my garage as the corolla is in the middle of the GZE, and its got me frazzled to my wits end.
i may have to have a talk with my welder/lift/fabrication access and see if i could park and do the swap there instead.... ok yea

You may want to get a hold of damon saul cause first he is more closer to you and second if you dont have any access to a welding device then we would be not much help due to the fact we made a totally different engine mounts thatn Damon did to his we completely removed the engine munting brackets from the crossmember and welded a new fabricated mounts to be used in the swap..... aka Norbie's mounting brackets style

the 88 landcruiser blocks? yea i read about that.
well the 5m is deader than a doornail and the access i have to a welder also happens to have a lift and a truck and a trailer and a full service rally shop so...anything is possible.
but as i said i dont have the time to be doing another swap. id rather see what damon could do for me. or if he has ways besides the engine mounts (maybe a wiring harness that is ready to go) to simplify and expedite the process.
but he didnt respond to my PM and hes got no email listed.
damon i may have money with your name on it.

Well guys, here is a little update on my project:
1. I installed my custom RC intercooler and routed the piping.
2. AC compressor was removed and installed a shorter belt
3. changed the oil pressure sending unit of 2jz to 5m oil pressure sending unit in order for the stock oil pressure gauge work.
It was ready for the wiring but there is one thing that I'm not happy with. I just found out that the injectors on ARISTO are high impediance and I want to run low impediance, so I need to find injectors for MkIV before I can wire it up...
BTW, if anyone wants the part number for the shorter belt, let me know I'm willing to share it to everyone.
Anybody can host pix for me?

A little more patience my friend, I had a problem with injectors of the stock ARISTO engine.. I didn't want to run that HIGH impediance injectors so I bought a set of MKIV stock injectors (550 cc low impediance)...3000cc and I installed them last sunday.....but another problem that I found out again...my injectors harness that came with the SDS was not gonna work with USDM injectors.... so i went to junkyard and look for something that I can use and what a lucky day......the cold start injector connector( out of celica, corolla, and tercel) will fit to the USDM injectors.......PROBLEM SOLVED.... time to get back to work and finish up the wiring.........hopefully I will be done in 2 weeks depending on how much free time I'm going to have.....
btw, if you want pictures? I can send them to you and post them if you can....I will try very hard to make it to PA meet......
