Nice face, nice specs.

I guess it's a generation thing as you are not the first person (younger than the Mk II age I'm guessing :)) I've talked to that has stereo components before the car they are going to go in... The neighbor kid just upgraded his 10" sub to a 15" for the "future" car...

I'll point out though that the factory Mk II stereo has a black anodized alluminum look to it.

I don't have a supra with a factory stereo, but here is how black (trim piece over black preamp) and grey (flip face kenwood on bottom din opening) components look inside the center console. The next time I have the console apart I'll probably spray the grey parts black.

I see the RF bright alluminum face really standing out, if that's the look you are after.

that looks good ken, i noticed though that the guy i bought my car from butchered the console surround, as mine doesn't go at an angle like your's does. also, what's up with that shifter? 0.o

edit= oh and the red xplods would look RETARDED in the mk2, IMO. red just wouldn't look right unless you changed out all the led's in the car. My pioneer is rather fitting.

SupraDupra85,

Hey there's no reason to get bent over how a face looks.

People have different tastes on what looks beautiful.

I care more about the specs than looks, since, after all, it is the 'source' for all the tunes in your 'future' car. I'm just ribbing you about getting a stereo before the car that's all.

Rockford Fosgate has really kept up on offering features only available in high end decks (except looks I guess :)).
Some 'good to have' specs on the deck are the 5v preamp outs, the copper clad chassis, and the optical out, all for $300. Used to have to get $750 decks to get just those features.

The RF deck will probably fit in nicely at night with the green knob illumination.

Finally, we all chat here because we love supras, and love to hear what other folk are doing to theirs. Everyone is welcome to their opinion.

Ken

Gage, my other two Mk II's are 5-speeds

Don't get so worked up about nothing guys. (the start of this sounds a bit agressive but stay with me here) Supra Dupra, you said you posted this message to have a debate on the deck so why get so offended when people post their opinions? That's what you wanted wasn't it? guys that replied, I think you came on a bit too strong with your opinions. SupraDupra, don't let other's opinions/comments bother you.

I think it's an awsome deck btw, looks very high quality. Would I choose it for looks to match a supra? no. but I bet it sounds amazing and if you wanted a good deal on something that sounds great then you got it. If you bought something you like then that's all that matters and don't let other's tell you otherwise. (not by arguing but by changing your mind)Heck, that's the whole point of modifying a car, to make it better and adjust it to your own tastest, not other's tastes.

Like Ken said, we're all here because we love supras and hear what other's are doing to theirs. Take is easy everyone.

i wasn't talking about it being an auto (i drive an auto also =/), i ment why's it got a different shifter? or maybe mine is the oddball. but mine looks nothing like that. hell, i can't even figure out how to get the damn thing off to replace my bushings.

Gage, the 82-83 Supra automatic shifters are different. they look kinda flimsy IMO< the newer style is a bit more grrrrr

SupraDupra, nice radio. If you like it and it's your style, go for it. I don't like it personally. I like that it has green buttons, which matched the mkII interior lights, but it looks boring for me. I'm sure it is very high quality which is good. But different people have different tastes. I like my Pioneer deck, it's green and blue, the green matches my interior lights nicely, and the blue makes it easy to read and offsets the green well. I don't need a high quality system. I'm not into sound performance ;)
I believe that particular radio that you like, would look better in a newer model car, or would look good in a mkII if you design your own interior/dash/radio console. etc.
