Rear End Hum

I have got a bit of noise comming from the rear of My 85. At higher speeds(35-??) There is a low hum/whine when coasting but not when the gas is applied. What could it be? I have changed the Diff fluid but not the Tranny fluid.

When I do change it whats this I here about Red Line Gear Oil and where can i get it......Advance Auto does not seem to have too much.

What type of drivet u have auto or 5spd. Im guessing u got 5spd since u mention gear oil. About your noise problem it might have to do with something in your diff. I remember my dad had a problem simmilar to yours on his van and it was the oil seal or something to that effect.

I also wonder where to get redline from? No one around here has it.

you can get Redline online here http://www.247-parts.com/redline_tranny.htm?cookieID=0YD024OY4 I had the same trouble b4 I replaced the diff, with the new one I don't seem to have it anymore. I also change the tranny fluid at the same time, so it could have been that. GL
