audible rattle from driver's side engine

my '84 had this (assumed it was just cuz it was POS), and now im hearing it on my '85. while driving (especially at lower speeds) im hearing an audible rattle/hum coming from the engine (i think from the intake side). it's not the injectors or valves clicking, and it doesn't get louder with RPMs, nor does it get louder while going around turns or going over bumps (not suspension). can't hear it at idle either. anyone else have this?

is yours a manual? Possibly the throw out bearing being worn out. Or how about the stabiliser bar that attaches to the intake? Is that maybe loose?
