Since I'm not used to using anything really other than 10w30 in most my cars... what would be the best oil for use in Washington State since it is fairly mild weather?
Castrol's website recommends 20w50 and also says Toyota recommends 20w40? Which isn't carried by either them or Valvoline.
10w40 perhaps?

living in canada, which i think is colder than washington state, im considering 15w40 for summer time, or 10w50 synthetic.
the 15w40 is easy to find, as its a diesel blend and very common at truckstops, the 10w50 i know castrol makes, and isnt too tough to find.

Am using 10W-30 year round. Only difference is that I'm not using straight petroleum oil in either of my Supra's, my 85 MKII is using the Quacker State High Mileage stuff & my 81 MKI is using the Quacker State Full Synthetic. If that makes any difference.
For the very few times in the winter that it gets below freezing, or summer when it ever gets above 95, the oil that I'm using seems to be fine.

10W40 then if you leak/burn oil pretty good on that stuff... 20w50...and if you leak/burn oil still....you need to do some mechanicin' :)

I a while ago I came across this relatively good writeup on engine oils and what to look for...
Google Groups - Best Engine Oils (http://groups.google.ca/groups?q=best+engine+oils&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&selm=72ektu%24nmv%241%40nnrp1.dejanews.com&rnum=5)
I personally though use 10w30 Castrol GTX High Mileage... I still leak and burn a bit of oil so I think I'll try some 20w50 and see if that makes any difference.

My car leaks like a sive on castrol 10w30 syntec, but 10w40, no leaks.
15w40 blows seals for me though

I have bene running 20w50 for a little over a month now an I have noticed a signifigant reduction in oil leakage/buring I was almost good for a liter/quart of oil at every fill up , but now it barely moves on the stick.
My oil preasure at col dis around 40 psi idel, 80 psi at 3000rpm, 15-20 psi idel warm and 55-60psi at 3000-3500rpm warm.
