WHACKY check engine light

during my work comute there is a rather steep incline when i get there i am ussaly doing like 95 mhp at about 3 1/2 grand in fifth i start to lose rpm as i climb the hill so i floor it it gaines rpm and climes just fine but any time i punch it in fifth the check engine light comes on if i turn it off and turn it back on its not on im wondering if this is somthing to worry about

Try checking the ECU for stored codes. Could be the knock sensor malfunctioning if you have an 85 or 86, or the 02 sensor detecting a lean condition.

i have a 85 and im not sure if the o2 sensor has ever been replaced do you think that is what it is ?

Could be, but check for codes first and go from there.
