I just bought an '83 and have a few lights out in the front. Since my '86 has a different front end I'm not familar with the lighting on the '82/'83's. What are the running lights? Meaning, which lights should be on? Should only the side markers near the front corners be lit or should the front amber lights (next to the fogs) also be lit? The info will help me in determining if it's just the bulbs (most likely) or if it's something else if simply replacing the bulb doesn't fix the power outage.

What do you mean by "the front ambers"? The turn signals? No they shouldnt be lit. The tiny runing lights go on wheb you turn the switch two clicks. NOTHING happens when you trun it one click. That's not intuitive. If you replace the running lights use a brighter bulb than recommended. The recommened one is real puny. 8)

Front lights s/b on when parking or headlight is turned on. Keep an watch on
your front side lights. if gasket is worn and cracked looking the whole light fixture may desinigrate . Its all one piece of rubber. easy to find replacements on internet. left and right are different

Great. Ok, so the fogs are the same on the '83 and '86. Wasn't sure if that was one of the little things that changed with the front end or not.

I believe the fog lights themselves are the same, but the fog light housings ARE NOT the same.
I took apart my old '82 to use it's minty mint foglights for my black car, totally different housing, it includes the turn signal.
I'm pretty sure you can just take the fog light out and transfer it, but I was in too much of a rush and just bent the metal back to get rid of the turn signal part of the housing, and installed them on my car that way, lol

Yeah, the 82-83 foglight braket (metal the foglight housing bolts to) is way longer than the 84-86 due the the turnsignal also being bolted to that bracket. All the running lights are the same as the 84+ just that on the side, the marker lights are in the trim piece rather than wrapped around from the turnsignal.

Well, I see now why there was no light on the front corner markers. Took off the lenses last nite and the lights had fallen into the fender wells. No light assembly anywhere. Take the lenses off the Celica markers (same style as the 82/83 Supra's) and the entire light assembly fixture is crumbling away as I remove the screws and lense! Crumbling into dozens of pieces. The '83 Supra light assemblies had completely disappeared. Hope these assemblies are still available from Toyota.

Light's on but nobody's home.

Yes, these are!! I have BRAND spanking new ones right now! The plastic is so clear, it's awesome :D They are about $23/side.

Scott,

The front side marker lights are indeed still available from Toyota. As Nick mentioned, they are about $23 each w/ our discounts. Don't bother trying to find any & the junkyards, the condition of those are the same (rubber bulb housing is cumbling away). I "think" the side marker housings are the same ones that can be used for 78 - 81 RA Celica's & the MKI's. I replaced my front side marker assemblies on the Silver Slug w/ new ones.

To everyone else. YES, the foglight housings are the same between 82 - 86. It's the buckets (that the housing goes into) that's different between 82/83 - 84+.

Ok, so what bulb number do we use for the marker lights that are inside the fog lights?

i dont think anyone awnsered his ? though.. the front amber on any year is signals only, the light beside the fog and the side 82/83 or the wraps on the sides are all marker lights.

btw i have a set that's a few years old new from the stealership.. pm if interested or still need a set.
