I have a little problem with fitting the LJM strut bar and the RC intake w/o rubbing either against eachother or the valve covers. I was wondering if I could put some washers under the strut bar (at the tower) or if that would weaken the effect of the bar. The intake isn't touching either the strut bar or the valve covers, but it's too close for my comfort. Once the engine torques a couple times it's gonna knock the intake into the bar and so on. I'm also not comfortable with putting just a little piece of rubber there, as it will disintegrate. Any more ideas?

well, if you have the new design rabid chimp pipe and new design ljm bar they should fit fine. otherwise, id say use a few washers.

yeah I got both in the past few months . . . so washers should be fine? They won't endanger the hood?

Nope. I used a piece of heater hose as a spacer between the LJM and RC pipe in my red car because the passenger side of the car had been mashed before I got it. Worked fine, but is ghetto for sure

I also have the same problem. I tried putting washers to raise up the strut bar but unfortunately it interferes with closing the hood.

The only solution for me is to heat the bar and bend it slightly around the RC intake (and I'll just have to repaint it).

Otherwise I'll bring the bar to the PA meet and get some opinions on what to do.

Have you guys tried moving around your intake pipes so that it wont rub on the bar?

Tried it.....not enough clearance between the bottom of the pipe and the valve covers.

It's no big deal really - just the way it fits (or does not fit) on my car. The strut bar is very beefy and I don't think heating it and bending it (less than 1/4 inch) will damage its integrity.

what you might want to try is triming the bushings that hold the afm bracket to the body. Last time I pulled one out I seem to remember them being a little large. If you could reposition the afm unit a bit that would elimante your problem.

All good ideas, but unfortunately I've tried them. :(
-The intake pipe won't move enough
-can't use washers b/c then the hood has problems
-The AFM can't be repositioned enough to make any difference

Well, shoot I guess I'm left w/ heating and bending it. :P Oh well. I'm sure Phil can brainstorm something up.

I'll be waiting to see what kind of solution you guys come up with

To my surprise the engine does not torque as much as it used to with the stock intake. I have just a hair of space between my intake and valve covers . . . and just a hair of space between my intake and LJM srut bar. I have revved the engine considerably and even under load the engine does NOT (I reapeat) does NOT touch the valve covers or strut bar! :D I was happy to find this out so that I don't have to mess with any more adjusting.

Phil G:
All Phil D. did was mess with the intake pipe enough to create an even space between the two objects. HTH
