Hey guys: The Mk2 I have, has had the engine swaped with a Cressida engine.
The guy I bought the car from was a bit of a liar said it was from an 86-87 could not remember
So question is how can I tell if its from an 82-83 5mge with 145hp
or 85-86 5mge with 161hp
Thanks

does it have 3 vbelts or a serpentine and one vbelt
the 3 vbelts is the earlier motor

 I dont know I just checked and it has 3 belts
The one for the powersteering pump has ripels on the underside alongside
The one for the air conditioner also has ripels on the underside alongside
The wide one for the fan has ripels across side on the width.

we can do a compression check sometime dan, that would be more conclusive. You can't tell by the belts as all the bolt ons from the engine were swapped over from the original engine as only the head and block are comletely shared with the supras.

Check under the intake, for the knock sensor. If it has a small predrilled boss,it's the later engine. If it has a 2" or so flat spot in the same area it is the earlier motor. The large flat spot is not pre-drilled,though I have drilled them and installed a knock sensor HTH
