View Full Version : Last Hillclimb of the season...Fall Weatherly
09-16-2004, 10:39 PM
Well, as long as Ivan stays south of me, I'm off to the Weatherly Hillclimb this weekend. Even if he does rear his ugly head, I'll run in the rain anyway. Maybe I'll end up with another 1st wall plaque to hang to my 1st place from Spring Weatherly. I'll report back with updates on the weekend racing fun.
Time to find out if the Kumho V700's are any good in wet weather.

At the end of the 1st day, I'm 2.353 seconds out of first. I'm going to have a hard time catching the Acura, but I'll give it one helluva try.

What's the total run-time for first place in your class? 2sec behind on a 40sec run is bad, 2sec on a 2min run aint shabby.
There is nothing in this world better than some acura killin...
I get to post this about once every 2-3 months...
Best of luck man, give em hell.

The hill is alittle over 1 mile. His best time is a 69.975, and my best time is 72.328. Last time I ran against him, he was on street tires, I was on race tires, this time he's on race tires.

Joe, I currently have the CD that you gave to George but he has not seen them yet...will give him the CD on Oct 1st
That looks like a blast. I wish they had organized events like that up here. Duryea looked like it was a lot of fun in the rain :D and weatherly looks like a fun course too. I bet you love that sharp hill after the quick right you almost get some air off of!
Your car looks wicked, it looks a lot more nimble with it stripped and a roll cage in it, the engine sounds quick and ready. There is next to no body roll on the car, it just takes off and goes. I want it!
Best of luck, I'm sure you'll improve that time, just keep the supra on the road. :D

Those vids are from last season. That car is history. I'm running my daily driver '84. I wish my 84 weighed as little as the white '85 did.
I do get some air at the jump at the top of the hill. I'll bring my photos with me to Damon's.
If your coming down in October, I can take you up to Weatherly, it's only about an hour or so from Damon's shop. Duryea would be a bit of a hike.

I won't make it to the big meet in october. I would hitch a ride with George but he can't go either. I'm 17 and won't be allowed to drive down by myself so it looks like no meets in the states for me this year
Next meet for me is the TSC mini meet at kelsey's in Toronto on Oct. 1st.

Well, the hillclimb didn't quite go as I had hoped. As I got quicker over the runs, so did the guys driving the Acura. The best time they posted was I think 66.756, and my best time was a 70.533. I managed to beat my old personal best from the Spring event which was a 72.220, so I guess the weekend wasn't a total loss. I know there is a better time in the car, I just need to push alittle harder.
I'll get them next season....I have a few things in mind for next year.
I should have dropped the aluminium flywheel when I had the chance. Maybe I could have gotten alittle closer timewise.

great job! That's great, if you beat your best time then you are improving eventually you'll be where you want to be. You'll show those acura boys what an old school supra can do. :D
what have you modified on your car? any pics?

Suspension mods mostly. KYB adjustable front struts, Koni adjustable rear shocks, Ground Control coilovers.
MSD 6 ignition, Accel Super Coil, K&N air filter.
Removed the Air conditioning, and the EGR valve.
I'm swapping the flywheel this weekend.

That's great, I bet the flywheel will really wake up the whole car. After I lower my car and install new shocks along with exhaust and headers I was thinking about a basic ignition upgrade with MSD coil and wires. I would also install new plugs, toyota distributor cap and rotor. Would you recommend and ignition upgrade for a fairly stock mk2 with basic upgrades or would I be wasting my time?
I know...I've heard other's opinions and used search a lot but I would like to hear your comments.
