View Full Version : Falken 502 Discontinued? other options--
I was interested in getting Falken 502 tires after reading threads of many of you posting good reviews.
I've checked at SEARS and they said it's discontinued. I've checked BIG O tires and they said it's also discontinued.
I checked www.vulcantire.com and there is no notice of these tires being discontinued-I would assume they're still available or either vulcantire still has them. The only thing is that I don't have a credit card, which is required to buy them from vulcantire.
What's the next best choices of tire for stock rims 225/60/14 (all season-daily driver)?

I spoke to Tire Rack about 2 weeks ago and they told me they still had some Sumitomo's in stock in the correct 225 size. I did not price them since I ordered the Michelin Pilots, which are the only H rated tire left for our cars ($103 each plus shipping).

I'll check my place too
I bought some Falkens Last year and the place I got them from they told me that they had 40 Falken 502 tires left in their warehouse. I wonder how many they have left

Thay have them here in Fontana I just put them on today!!!
$301.58 is what I paid. Anyway if you want I can get them and then send them your way but S/H is reqared.
I ckecked another local tire store and they said they can get the Falken's. I didn't ask if they could also confirm if it's discontinued or not. So I assume there are still some in warehouses-just need to ask the right place.
The place I checked at is Tognottis, an auto/performance + tire/wheel store in Sacramento. http://www.tognottisautoworld.com/
I was quoted at $50 or so compared to the vulcantire's $44 each. It looks like I'll get it from tognottis instead.
I suppose Sumitomo's would be next option if things turn out differently or if Falken's are no longer available in the future (that's if the Sumitomo's won't be discontinued also).
thanks for the replies...

I was able to get my local discount tire store to get me a set. It took about 3 weeks to get them in and I had to fight them a little on the price, but everything worked out and I like these tires. Tested them in the rain yesterday and found them to be fine to work fine. I'm considering getting another set to have around when they are no longer available.

Another question in mind. How long do the Falken 502's last with little or no harsh driving, burnouts, or racing & driven mostly city and highways?
I ask because I bought 4 Dunlop GT Qualifiers back in late 2000 and the treads are wearing off-barely any treads; they've held up moderately well considering I've used them only once in a street race and drive city and highways never passed 85mph. I've probably driven over 30,000 miles on them. But, about 3 months ago one of the Dunlop (front passenger) was swollen with a bubble with mild tread left so I replaced it with a non identical tire.

The Falken Ziex's have a 420AA treadwear rating. Using the non abuse description you quoted, they "should" between 60 - 80K miles. In other words they will last for quite awhile.
thanks for the reviews....they should arrive in a few days.

In France we only have some Toyo F600i left... Very hard rubber, can't use them, but the handling is not very good... Got some 215/60/14 H in front of my Mk II.
Too bad the Yokohamas are discontinued, they are awesome :

Michelin Pilots ?
When I think Michelin is a french brand and we can't get any Pilots for the Supra here in France... What kind of Pilots are they ? Pilot HX ? Pilot Sport, Sport 2 ?
They are real good tires...

The Michelin's in question are the Pilot XGT H4's.
And yes, I agree that the Yokohama's are kick ass tires (either the A509's, or the AVS Intermediates). Yes, I also wish they were not discontinued either.

Duplicate post with another thread,
Good News! I just got an email response from Vulcan regarding the backordered ZIEX 502s:
"Yes we can still actually get these tires. Because this size in not
available in the new ZE-512 is has NOT been discontinued in the ZE-502.
This availability date is the best estimate available from Falken Tire at
this time. Let me know if I can be of further assistance."
Good, I need new tires before the first snow! My Falken FK-06U's are bald.

The latest estimate has now gone to late November for Falken tires. The Port of LA/LB is severely overloaded (blame Walmart, really, for shifting their XMAS stuff from August to Oct). The overload isn't expected to disappear until Feb.

Hey gang. I ordered my Falken 22560R14 tires from Vulcantire.com back in early October. They were back ordered and I got them yesterday. I didn't need them until now so no big deal on the backorder. Just letting you know that stock size Falkens are still available. It just takes about a month to get them.

I ordered a set from vulcantire.com on the first of this month with the expectation of getting them sometime in mid december (thats what the backorder time said). Got an email on the 5th letting me know they have already been shipped, should have them within the week. So I'm not too sure why it says early Dec. Just to give anyone a heads up that was thinkin about ordering the falkens from vulcan tire.

Got the tires in on the 10th. Great lookin tires, better then the yokohama AVID STs that I have on the car right now. Plus they are H rated which is great (unlike the avid's). Now its time to refinish my wheels. Not bad, took ten days from time of order to get the tires even though it said it was on back order till early december.
