View Full Version : 2005 Calendar! Must send pics ASAP

We can thank Chris Clement again for making these calendars. Unfortunately, he and I are jammed with work, but he should be able to squeeze these out in time. Please follow the instructions below exactly as stated. We need pics ASAP!!

Strict deadline: Nov 12th

For digital cameras:
Your camera must be able to do a minimum of 2.0 megapixels.
You must have it in the highest resolution it can take pictures in.
Images can be supplied in one of 3 formats: JPG, TIFF, NEF (tiff format
is prefered if your camera is capable of that mode, making a tiff out of
a jpg does NOT make it a better picture!).

Mike will make the final decision as to who's picture will be in the
calendar. It will depend on the quality and content of the photo. In
other words, even though you've taken the most awesome picture of your
vehicle, in the most beautiful part of the world, if it's falling apart
and rusted beyond belief, don't expect it to be published!

You can email your images, (one email per photo please), to: calendarpics@kolohe.net.
They must be under 5mb EACH! Anything larger is unnecessary. If you
are unsure about resizing your photos and they are larger than 5mb, you
can use one of the online services, then send me a link to the image. I will
download it within 48 hours. NEF files will be accepted even though they
are normally just over 5mb.

For photos/slides:
Minimum size will be 4X6 and vehicle needs to fit at least 70% of the frame.

Slides will be accepted, but will also need to fit at least 70% of the frame.

Satin finish photos may not be accepted, depending on just how "grainy"
the finish is. We will determine these images upon receiving them.
Please! No prints larger than 10x12! If you do have something larger
than this, and you want to submit it, you must have the image reduced
professionally by a service bureau, they are in the yellow pages under
printers(as in printing companies).

Send your photos/slides to:
Chris Clement
1724 NE 2nd Ave.
Hillsboro, OR 97124

If you'd like them returned, send a SASE along with your images. Note,
while I will take the utmost care of your images, I will not be
responsible for any lost or damaged photos/slides!

Thanks guys, the race is on!!!

Afraid that I won't be able to make that deadline this year...way too swamped with other deadlines this coming month..I've been thinking about trying to find a nice place to take pics of the cars but haven't found one yet. When you're taking orders, put me down for one. :-)

Mike & Chris,

Are we also still using the same guidelines that we have used for the past 2 years as far as eligibility??? In other words, if your car was in the previous years calendar, you will not be eligible for this years calendar, correct??? Unless the photo's that you receive are absolute crap....

<------ NOT submitting photo's for next years calendar, since the Redpra & the Silver Slug were already in this years calendar (January & May), and wants to give other peeps a opportunity.

i sent an e-mail of what my car looked like before the crash.

edit: crap, my e-mail has 2 pictures. Didnt see the "one photo per e-mail". sorry.

Well, we'll see what we come up with for pictures, Chris E. So far, You havel all been able to overload my mailbox with excellent pictures, and that's a good thing!!! This means that we may be able to have completely new owner's cars in the calendar!!!
I will have a list of people who have sent images sometime this weekend. If you've sent pics and your name is not on the list, resend them (of course, wait at least 24 hours before your name shows up!!!).
I know its not a lot of time to get your pics together, believe us, we are under the wire too, as these take a minimum of 3 weeks to print, collate, stitch, drill and trim. Most of these are outsourced from the printers we use, so there's a large turnaround time involved.
Don't forget that Mike and I both have to work to pay our bills, and this is the best we (meaning I) can do in our busy lives!
Don't worry though, this year will be even better than last year's, and I'll make sure there are no silly errors like missing dates!!!
Keep them pics coming guys and gals!!!

Chris has informed me that the pics don't have to be taken by the owners. I know I have some great ones in my collection from the various Supras Invade Las Vegas events. If you see a picture that you think would be good for the calendar... please email KeithH@Supras.org and let me know and will email the full res image over for the calendar. Images from 1999 to 1993 can be seen at http://Vegas.Supras.Org/gallery - this year's pictures can be seen on the various activity pages at http://Vegas.Supras.Org/v04

Can't wait to see if they have arrived. I don't want to miss out on a chance of getting in this years Calendar, as I have missed out twice already.

before i go ahead and borrow a better digicam, i want to know if a pic of my car under restoration would have any chance of making the calendar? (a good pic, but the car doesnt look great right now)

im doing it more to get some variety in the pictures, and to show how much work some of us do to our favorite cars =D

let me know

just thought maybe i could take a good pic of it now, and submit that with a 'before' and 'after pic along with one a little further along in the resto to make a 4 pic collage kinda thing for the next calendar (since i will definetly not be done by the middle of november)

You can email me the pictures, although I will not be the one to choose who gets into the calendar or not. That job is left up to Mike Malloy. Depending on the amount of pictures received, we will put them in an order of the best to the worst. From there we will take the top 14 pictures and those will be in the 2005 calendar.
As for pictures, here's what I have as of 12:00PM PST Saturday:

EDITED, See list below...

If you have sent me a picture and are NOT in the list above, please send them again. Remember, 1 picture per email.

Also, please make sure your pictures meet the criteria above for filesize and resolution. I've received a couple of pictures that cannot be used because they are too small to blow up for the calendar.

Keep them pictures comin'!!! You folks are doing great so far, but we need a few more to make this happen!

I'll contribute a few of my shots in full res once I have time to sit still for more 1/4 of a second.

....at present, it's looking like the only way to access them is to yank my HDD and bring it to work. Otherwise I may never be able to submit the pictures I took solely for the purpose of the calendar. Grrr!!

I looked at your website, but those pictures are too small to use for the magazine. If you have the original image, pick your most favorite pictures and email them to me.

Hi Chris , I don't understand why you have not had my pictures I have sent them twice now.
I do have all the original pictures in my computer and they are large files.
Some of them were taken on the maximum setting of 4mb thumb nail.

Sorry Scott, just corrected your name!

Pat, I'm not sure either, but I do not have any emails from you at all. I just double-checked and no emails from you yet. I'd suggest sending me an email without any attachments to make sure you're emailing the correct address. Once I respond, reply to it and attach one picture at a time. It could be that the email service you use does not allow large attachments or JPG files to be sent.
If after that, I'm still unable to receive your pictures, you can create a new account for free at www.pbase.com and upload the original photos you have in full resolution, and I can download them from there.

I'll look through my Vegas pics and see what I can dig up, I got some good ones. I meant to mention this before but forgot, 2.0mp doesn't really cut it for these I'm afraid. My submission for the first calander was a really nice 2mp pic (1600x1200) and it was noticably blurrier then all the film pics in that calander. I'd recomend at least 3mp if your going digital.

Chris I have loaded up some pictures at www.pbase.com like you said.

Here is the link I got it to work. Take your pick from them or take them all and let Mike pick one if he likes them.

Pat, yep I got 'em. PM has been sent, thanks.
Scarlet lizard, that will be just fine, I'll let you know as soon as I get the pic via snailmail.
SupraFiend, yeah, I know there were a couple of slightly blurry pics in 2004's calendar, and I do agree that they really should be above 3mp, but that would cut a lot of folks out from being able to submit their pics. There are some cameras that do quite well at their 2mp setting, the picture of my Supra, although a bit blurry too, is from a 2mp camera (March 2004 pic). I think that's an acceptable resolution for the calendar, being that this is a "grassroots" type of calendar and not published by a large corporation to make a profit.
I can usually massage the images that aren't quite perfect to get them to a printable state, but I try not to as it normally shows some signs of being retouched-usually a blurrier image.
I guess i can tell y'all now, most of the pics I've received so far are over 2mp resolution, and several of them are postcard quality too! This year's calendar is going to have some really nice shots in it!!!
That's all I'm gonna say for now!

As of 9:00AM, Saturday, 13th of November, no more pictures are being accepted!
I'll update the list and have it posted by tomorrow evening.

An unofficial count of pictures received, over 100!!! No pictures have been received by regular mail either. If you've mailed a photo for the calendar, please PM me so we can find out where it is. I recall a few of you saying you'd be mailing the photos.

Thanks for pulling it off guys! In only 3 weeks time, you've manages to supply enough photos for several years!!! And no, we will not be taking this year's leftover photos and using them for next year! We'll do the same thing in 2005, and those who were not selected this time around may submit it again for next year!

Thanks again guys!

Now, as you can see, I still need information on quite a few folks, so now's the time to quickly type your info in a PM for me!

Oh yeah, the final count:

141 pictures!!!

Now Mike gets to put them in the order he wants them seen in the calendar, while I get the layout done and, believe it or not, SPELL CHECKED!!! I'll also have it gone over a few times for missed dates, incorrect numbers and any other mistakes that made it in 2004's calendar

Next discussion will be pricing and availability, we should have hard numbers by 12/01/04, and hopefully will be able to mail by 12/17/04, that gives us almost 3 weeks to get them to where they need to go!

If you need to discuss anything about the pictures, please PM me with your concerns!

Oh great administrators of CS.Com, can you please lock this thread? Thanks!!!
Chris
