One more proud engine builder. His baby has come to LIFE!
I felt the same way. It's VERY beautiful. The running for the first time is EPIC!
Please enjoy the burning off paint for a few days! EYE always did..
The smell of a freshly built engine is almost better than a new born, but it really is.

Sounds healthy! Congratulations and hope the test drive goes smoothly. One thing, be sure to check your idle screw on the throttle body and turn it full clockwise, closed and let the ECU determine the stepper motor position. Only saying to check that as the idle speed seems a bit high. Timing correct as well?

Very exciting and glad your hard work is paying off!

Thanks. It does sound pretty healthy, I was expecting to hear some valve train noise on first start, but didn't. I did prime the lash adjusters before installing them.

I positioned the set screws on the throttle body when I calibrated the TPS. The idle isnt actually high, I was just holding my foot on the throttle a bit to about 2,000 rpm so the oil pressure was higher and would pump up the valve lash adjusters and circulate into the bearings faster.

I still need to check the timing, I'll do that first thing on next start up. My manual says 10 degrees BTDC.
