They stuck a few in out-of-order, but for the most part they seem to be in order.

I didn't get to see it on TV. I could tell from the picture on the web that it was a Maaco budget repaint, but were belt mouldings really peeled or did it just look like that in the picture?

If it was on TV today our provider didn't carry it. I see it listed for a couple of days from now, so I'm guessing the golf program they showed today paid more than the auction!

Dave and I watched it streaming live on Youtube.

I didn't notice anything funny about the belt moldings. The auctioneer started the bidding at 10k, I think, and kept dropping the "opening bid" until it got down to 2k, and somebody bit.

At one point when it wasn't getting any bids, he said something like "I can't believe it!", and didn't seem to get much response, so he just kept doing his rapid-fire auctioneer thing until it finally crept up to 4k, where it sold.

My wife was watching it with me and wanted to know why it wasn't going any higher, and I tried to explain to her that anybody who was there and interested in the car would have looked it over very well before it went up for bid, and would have been really turned off by the white mirrors and the fact that they painted over the flare-to-fender welting.

Not being a "car person" she just said "But it looks so PRETTY!"........

Someone bought it for their wife. Or,as you say, their offspring.
Our cars are WAY better that that one's new home.

It was an orphan in the midst of correctly done cars and it didn't belong there.

The buyer will have remorse in about 2 years.
