I'm french (sorry, nobody's perfect) and I've bought my first Celica-Supra a few months ago.
Fisrt, I beg your pardon if my english is not quite good...
Don't ask me why I choose this car, I really don't know. I had a lot of old cars (unknown in your country!) before but I was looking for one to do road trips with my wife and mine 8 and 14 years old sons. Whant something with space, reliable, with air conditionning, at least a 6cyl engine and RWD. And this car appear!
So, I find it in north of Portugal, 1800km (1100 miles) from my house, in a garage. This car was a first hand, it have been bought in 1985 in Canada by a woman who came in 1992 lo live in Portugal. And she bring the car whith her. Now she was to old to drive it.
When I bought the car it had only 49000 miles!!!
In august we took the plane to take it bake to France. During 2 weeks of hollydays we travel true north to south Portugal, west to est Spain and west to est France. 4800 kilometers. With the Air conditionning of, and about 40-45°c it was very hard but very cool. We only had one problème (except the AC) the tires were to old: from 1999 and only 1500km. So one of them was at the point to explod.
So I change the wheels and tires.
In October we take one more week to do an othe road trip thrue north Italia, 1200km more!
Jim, no the Polo is a smaller car.
That color was very rare in Canada, and
with the analog gages even more. You got one very rare Canadian car, and in a very very condition. Most of the time, the driver seat leather is cracked and teared (déchiré) everywhere. The only issue visible is the chrome seat trim that is split (very common). You found "a survivor"!
Domi,
Thank you!
The paint is in really good conditions. And it's original. Just 4 small points of rust around the sun roof and the antenna.
Drjim,
The Polo is smaller than the Golf. The last you can see on my pictures weight 790kg, 150hp, 230nm, 1272cc engine with a specifical supercharger.
My brother got a 1985 Scirocco, I find this car very beautyfull.
RedP85,
I'm surprised about the fact this model is very rare in Canada!
The driver seat is starting to be cracked but nothing irreversible. And the chrome seat trim is split! The big problème of the driver seat is that there is some lateral clearance...
Cool looking car! Nice and clean paint too. Next time you swap tyres again - try a 205 - 55 - 15, the slightly smaller sidewall really improves the look and the handling. I found 205 - 60 a bit too flexible in the corners.Oh, and i have a new OBX stainless exhaust Manifold in England for sale if you are interested they don't fix right hand drive cars so had to resort to buying a Trust one instead

I don't see the O 2 bung in that photo. Those headers look great.Did you have any install issues?
There have been discussions about header wrapping the pipes to reduce under hood heat.
The R.H.D. cars have different issues when it comes to installations. I'm just not used to seeing a right hand car.
The wheels look BEE-YOU-TEE-Full!
Let your Supra sleep in your warm and cozy garage, until the spring time.

The O2 Bung is in the down pipe, but it's the least of the problems with a RHD car. See the fourth primary ( from the front) and the steering rack knuckle clashes with it at the bottom. Not a problem on LHD cars due to the steering on the intake side, but i learnt the this the hard way when i ordered it from America. Cost quite a lot of money, but it is a good quality part. Nice welding and good fit. I went and bought a TRUST one from Japan in the end so need to get rid of the OBX!
Thank's for the comments
I won't try an other size of tires for two reasons: because of inspection and because I'm not looking for a better handling. I just use this car to drive quiettly thrue beautifull landscapes!
I'm very interested by your exhaust manifold but I have other priorities. But, can I ask you what is your price???
ddd228,
Looking outside for the weather, it's look like between two weeks I will drive it again!
Last sunday I just wanted to move the car out from the garage but:
:sadsmilie
Yesterday I start to fix the problem and I think tonight everything will be OK!
But I didn't need to waste that time, I have so much other thinks to do. My Supra will have to be perfect for the 15 of april, I organize a road trip for youngtimers thrue south Spain and south Portugal. We are yet 4 cars!
I'm late to the party, but I'll add my welcome from the UK - love to see more mkIIs in Europe! Hope you got it out of the garage and have been enjoying it on the road! Does look like you have a great condition car, and unusual to see one imported from Canada!
Okay, bad school French over, I visit France regularly since I have family there. Perhaps one day our paths will cross
