Depends, its a fairly simple part. Gastanks are rusting out like crazy on these cars though. People shouldn't separate the pickup from the tank if they're both good, but it does happen occasionally.

I'm close friends with a parts dept manager at Toyota, when he called to tell me our mkiv rear end parts were in I asked him about tracking down a pump hanger out of one of the later cars. We'll see what he can find.

I agree CLToy! The MKIV is not mine, but it is normally a running and driving car. Some hoodrat things on hot sticky tires kinda made the diff a metal soup.

Well guys, I guess silence on my end may be a good sign. I've been rather busy trying to knock this thing out. So many little things that I don't even know if I can list them all. My list is getting shorter and shorter, though, and we are getting super close to having a running and driving car. I can't contain my excitement at this point and am hoping to have the car done in the next couple weeks.

Thanks Manvir! The big day is coming soon.

In the meantime, how about an update?

I'll post some picture for those of you who like pictures!

Getting some oil in, it's been patiently waiting!

    Fitting the diverter valve!

The trick here, for me, was using a piece of 3/4" hose (cut to the length of the nipple) on the nipple of the 3000 pipe, and then shoe-horning the 1" hose around the 3/4" hose. Cut the hose to length and install pressure side of diverter valve.

    For the other side...

I used a heater hose coupler, for 3/4" hose, cut it at the center most groove, and use the short end stuffed into the accordion pipe (I noticed the inside side of the boss is smaller in diameter and this should keep the coupler from falling in and hitting the compressor wheel), install the 1" hose over the rubber boss (with coupler inside to allow you to clamp down on the hose) and cut to length for the vent side of the diverter valve.

Tighten all of the clamps and add reference (vacuum) line, and...

In the last couple days I have added oil, ran new power steering lines, oil cooler and new lines, relocated and installed the battery, ran main power cable up to the starter and from the starter to the distribution block, put power to the car for the first time in who knows how long, wired up the boost and wideband gauges, installed all my custom fuel pump wiring, pulled a lot of old funky wiring out of the car, checked the lights just for giggles, installed the shifter, started designing the exhaust, added a hefty body to engine ground cable, filled the trans and drained/cleaned/refilled the diff. I'm sure there is much more that I'm forgetting but it's getting late and I've been too busy thinking about what's left to do still while I rush to button this thing up.

But, let's end on a high note,

    Came with an LSD!

In North America, LSDs were only optional on US LTypes. Standard on everything else.
