Analog Oil Pressure Sending Unit
Has anyone else had a problem with their sending unit. I rebuilt my 83' 5MGE about 8000 miles ago(bored and new high comp pistons > 9.2 : 1) and ive gone thru 2 sending units. My original one quit working about 900 miles after the rebuild so I bought a new one from a local parts store and it lasted about a month before it started giving erratic readings (up and down very quickly) and then it stopped working. The last one cost me $50 and I'd rather not have to continue buying one everytime it quits. The car ran perfectly when the sending units worked but now that they dont I get terrible gas mileage. Would it be possible to use the non analog unit?(only $12) I'm thinking my prob might be a short somewhere but I only have a toyota manual for an 84' supra and im not sure if the 83' and 84' have different wiring setups.
