Engine bay Measurements needed
I need a couple of engine bay measurements on the MKI Supra .
1. Engine side of the radiator support to the firewall.
2. Narrowest width of the engine bay. Most likely this will be between the shock towers.
Also, does the entire front suspension drop out like a MKII Supra?
Thanks in advance for your help..___________

You are also going to want to know how much room there is between the steering idler arms. <-- is that what those 2 arms are called? Any way they at full lock they get pretty close to the stock engine block. The would deffenatly hit the exhast headers on a V block engine.
Just an 82 supra

I am posting this for another fourm member who has limited internet access at this time. I, like you would guess something is being planned on being stuffed into the engine bay. I was not even privy to any of the details.___________

'Fess up Rog - you know damn well you're working on a Jag V12 into a MKI. Just come out of the closet with it already!

sorry its taken me so long but heres what I got;
firewall to rad support - 38"
strut tower to tower - 32" (narrowest point)
subframe rail to rail - 27" (around the point where the motor mounts are)
rail to top of strut tower - 22" (bottom of the rail, where it meets the crossmember)
Now, consider these to be w/ in a .5" of being right - I measured from my black MKI that has the motor in it as the specs of my white MKI have been slightly altered :o)
There is probably another inch or 2 above the top of the towers till you'd hit the hood (in the middle). Now - on the pass side - there is pretty much room down below between the rails, motor and firewall - and the steering endlink is all the way out on the rail - and the crosslink is up by the crossmember. On the driverside is another story - it is tight! You got the steering box and linkage between the crossmember and firewall; that old school steering set up is bulky...
LMK if that works for you.damon

Damon Thanks so much, I think those measurements will work just fine. It's probally even more than needed. Also, I think .5" can be taken out with the 5lb hammer I have in the tool box. ;0)
Now does anyone have the measurements of a Jag V12...
j/k
I honestly think that one of my friends has realized what a great chassis and drivetrain set up the MKI is for engine swaps. I know you MKI guys have known this for a while but some of us are just catching up...
Thanks guys for the responses___________

The 1982 MkII would fall in the classic status January 2007 in Colorado.
But again, the 1981 (5me) emission thresholds that come up on the computer are 'more lenient' than the 1982 (5mge), and the 1982 emission thresholds are more lenient than 1984, etc.
