Apexi SAFC ?s
been looking on SF and SM for the answer but cant find anything. ill be running a Apexi SAFC A/F controller on my 7mgte. i also have a GReddy Profec B spec 2 boost controller. the goal is to have a low and high setting for boost. problem is i dont think the Apexi will be able to do that.
will i be able to switch from a low boost setting to a high boost setting with the Apexi, or is it just a tune at one psi level and be done with it situation? thanks1983 p-type 7mgte/R154

safc doesnt tune at boost. it tunes with injector pwm(pulse width modulation) in percentages. it is a awesome tool to take or add fuel from/to the stock fuel maps. it also has settings which allow you to tune for atmosphere vented bov. i forget how to play with that part. but it will fix the running rich/backfiring for a split second that you get with maf cars. you can also take away fuel to allow for running of bigger injectors...so you wouldnt HAVe to have a lex maf to run 550s...tho both(550's and lex) is awesome, and would raise your fuel cut.
hope that helps.Regards

The B-spec uses a reliable twin-solenoid valve control motor. There are two presets labeled Lo. and Hi., as well as a Balance knob to alter the wastegate boost response. This unit also can be used with both integral/actuator or external/poppet style wastegates Good for twin and sequential turbo setups. Compatible with the Remote Switching System.The two presets values can be stored and are executed by a larger capacity inline solenoid valve.
You need the Greddy Remote Switching System (for PRofec A/B/S)The Remote switching system was designed for the Profec B and allows you to switch between high boost and low boost, at the click of a button on your steering wheel.

It would depend on your fuel setup. With mine, it's almost impossible to have safe fueling for both high and low on the SAFC. On the high boost AFC settings I take out around -17% from 3k-7k on the high map and it's still rich. But runing stock boost would be dangerously lean @ -17. Worse yet, if I use the low AFC settings (-7), I hit fuel cut on the high boost. I guess that's why they made standalone.

thanks Kurt, Wade, yours was what i was looking for. is there another type of piggy back that will allow me to switch from low to high boost. it just seems like i wasted the money on the boost controller cause i can only use one level. i want everything to work together and complement each other in the car. thanks

Have you considered ditching the Profec B & getting the AVC-R??? If you don't mind having 2 blue screen units on your dash??

i was thinking of this. the only reason i got the Profec was because its simple. ive never used a EBC so i wanted simple. would the AVC-R solve this issue? what are some of you guys running for EBCs.

your using ms as your piggy back. my question still is if i have a SAFC will i be able to switch between low and high boost levels with out issues? so far it seems to be NO, but is there another piggy back beside MS or MS 2 that will tune off of boost so this is possible. if not ill just live with one boost level.

ms=standalone.
if you want to tune differently(not have the same afr's) in high and low boost, then youll need to change it manually... something like the maft would be good for you, it gives you control of timing aswell(so i hear) i havent dealt much with em, nor looked into them...Regards
