Has anybody installed a rear BBK kit?
Hello,
I was finally getting to the final stages of my rear bbk kit install and realized that the 2nd attempt of getting the correct parts for the technafit stainless lines to work with the rear bbk kit has come up short. If there is a forum member that has installed these and can tell me what fitting they used to connect the rear caliper to the technafit rear stainless brake lines please let me know. Technafit has sent 2 sets of fittings and neither of them work. I have searched over and over and can find no threads and it is evident that I cant turn to technafit as they have sent two sets and they still wont do the job.
It seems that it shouldl be a 90 degree with some sort of a swivel female end so the technafit will screw right into it. It may also be a case where I need a whole new section of brake line that needs female fittings on each end.....
could someone please help me on this?
thanks,
mike

Mike,
You may have over-looked them, but I have a set of custom lines installed that I ordered from Technatfit. I did originally order the 8-piece set for the OEM calipers, but ended up needing different pieces for the Wilwood calipers.
I will see if I can track down all of the vital specs and pass them on to you. In the mean-time, check out the two single lines with the integrated tube 90-degree fitting. These are the replacement pieces for the rear BBK...

- Size 3 hose
- M10 x 1 Female "Toyota" Flare (connect to front hose)
- 90-degree swivel crimp -3 hose (connect to caliper fitting)
- Straight -3 AN to 1/8" NPT fitting (mount to caliper)
- Over-all length 12" (tip to tip), Tip to bend approx 11"
I think I paid about $20 for the two pieces...

pics worked fine for me as well. i was gonna use a straight fitting and a 45deg 1/8npt to 3an like i did on my front kit but this is prolly a better way to do the rears. thatnks for the specs carlos. i cangt wait till i have all the parts to add my rear bbk. the front kit alone made such a huge diff omg. and then i got better softer front tires so it stops on a dime. i love it. just got to watch the rear view mirror ALOT more now. lol dont want someone slammin into me.

for those that have installed the rear bbk. can you tell me how far the caliper sticks out past the hub? i need to know as im trying to buy some wheels and not sure the centers on the rear will clear the rear bbk. my rear bbk is still in a box so i cant measure it myself at this time.

William,
I will see if I can measure the hub and caliper with the wheel installed latter this evening. I do however have a few pictures that may be helpful. The first pic is at a bad angle, though. If memory serves me correct, the caliper and hub height was fairly even, especially when it comes to mounting wheels...
Regards,
Carlos

sweet. those pics are actually very helpful. the centers on my current ssr's have 20mm of pad, but they made them with less pad space as well. since i want max lip i can use a center with less pad in the rear. iirc the lowest they have is 10mm thick which should clear the brakes from what your pics show. i "think" the last pair of ssr's i bought have the 10mm pad space, wont know till they arrive though.
