    valve stem question

So I finally popped a head gasket on my 79 cressida. Since I am taking the head off the car anyway, would this be a good time to replace the valve stem seals?

yeah it would make it easier since the cams will already be off the belt and what not it wouldnt hurt. rather than taking it all apart later

I am actually doing the HG next week. I had noticed that she would puff a bit of smoke when I start it. Could this be the valve stem seals? Where do you get them?

It depends on what color smoke. Also, I wouldn't judge any smoke at start up during winter since all cars pretty much smoke during that time.

So where are you guys getting your head gaskets from?

Ditto on Beck/Arnley. Quality. And great prices on Rock Auto. But google "Rockauto discount" to get a code for 5-10% off. Um, this is my code, good until May 9 2897583834651

I had difficulty getting a HG for the 4ME, I ended up getting one from Mark at Vancouver Toyota. Very satisfied with price and shipping.
