I will double check that....and confirm with tech support as I will be calling them tommorrow.

Like I said, by tommorrow I will have it 100% sorted out and finished and will be able to answer any questions people have as to assembly.

ahh..then you may have to make a call to tech support for your specific board cause I have 1.5.

I will be finished and powering up/loading software tommorrow and will be updating this thread.

    Hey guys,

Ben with DIYAutoTune.com technical support here...
I wanted to go ahead and join this forum--kind of post up to introduce myself, and offer some assistance.

Scott's doing an awesome job with his write up, and for the most part his build is looking good. I've touched bases with Scott on this already, but wanted to step in because I saw some things on the board that weren't quite right. Namely, U5, Q7, Q11, Q12, and Q17 all need to be installed on the underside of the board. If you look on the bottom, you'll see a silver heatsink pad for each of the transistors to rest on. These transistors do have a proper orientation, so getting them on the bottom side against the heatsink ensures that they're installed correctly and will prevent them from shorting against other components.

I think posting this up here would benefit anyone and everyone, and hopefully prevent this same mistake from happening again. So we'll beef up our documentation a bit, and here's some pics of an assembled mainboard for reference.

Scott had a couple of small questions that we knocked out earlier today, so otherwise I think he's in pretty good shape.

PERFECT BEN!!! Thank you sooo much this is exactly what I needed to do this. I will be fixing my board, finish up the few questions I had, and then fixing my pictures.
    one more question..

does the heat sink compound go under the transistors.

Yes, you'll want to use a very small amount of the heatsink compound on each transistor. A little tiny dab is all it needs. The compound will spread out when it gets warm, just like what happens with a computer's processor.
