I have to say I am so glad this thread is around.

If I am following this right. If I remove two teeth off the distributor and run one VR sensor? How is the VR sensor wired up, is it wired in like the Ford EDIS VR? Lastly, I would still run the stock coil packs then?

Dumb question, how would I know which teeth to grind off?

williamb82, since your already runing EDIS... Are you going to add the single VR on the cam so you can go sequential COP?

Please keep in mind I am researching MS. I basically know enough to make a shit mess and not enough to be useful. lol.

there is entire sections on msefi.com and other ms related info sites... but you will need to grind off two opposing teeth with at 180 degrees apart. you could still run your stock coil packs but using for edis systems or chevy ls1 coils require much less work and less electronics... it all depends on what boards and versions of the ecu you have...

Thanks for the info. I do know that the two are suppose to be 180 apart, but is on TDC and the other 180 degrees?

That is how I do mine, but arguably many teeth can point to tdc if you rotate the gear on the cam to line them up.

the stock 24 tooth wheel with 2 teeth removed 180deg apart will wire straight to the ms2 and run the ignition in waste spark. as for sequential, you cant do that unless your running a ms3 wit hthe expansion card. i havent purchased one yet but thats the plan, and when i do ill have to run 2 triggers. 1 for the top dead center so i can run sequential.

my current edis6 setup, i have 2 edis 6 modules in parallel. 1 runs cyl 1-3, the other 4-6. both have power, ground,vr signal, and the signal from the ms2, however only 1 of them sends a signal to the ms2. this keeps both modules running the exact same timing. and if you forget to plug 1 in, the engine WILL run on 3 cylinders, though crappy. lol.

so i got an update. Apparently it was in the programming for the ecu, so it was either something so rediculously obvious that i didnt see it or the information relayed through the shop it was at was unaccurate. Its weird that it would be in the programming because I have checked over and over again at the ms efi websites and I also looked at how some of the guys here had theirs set up. I'm wondering if there was a small issue with the ecu that would be nearly impossible to notice and they're just telling me it was programming to cover up the slight mishap that a new employee made?

It also could just be the lack of info about the programming of the 7mgte with the zeal board in the megasquirt and stock cps (no modding). Im waiting to get the ecu back then I'll upload what they have changed and I'll get exact details within a couple weeks. I'll also post a screen shot of the ignition settings to use the stock cps with a gm coil set up.

    hey guys,

Took a while off tinkering with no success with this thing... I'm done school now and have some time to actually work with it but its been so damn long I've forgot pretty much all of what I had done previously lol...

I also lost my links to all the megamanual write ups I needed, stupid computer crash

with this set up would I be better off running a 24-1 tooth wheel or just go 12-1? (still looking for the thread on here that show's the cps mod in detail, link would be much appreciated if someone has it)

I really didnt wanna hack any teeth off but at this point I just want the damn thing to run and it looks like this will be my solution... It's been too long since I cruised in it and my buddy with his speed3 are making it worse everytime we cruise in his car lol

Alright so I decided I'm going 12-1... already modded the cps and gapped the sensor to 0.010" (which should be close enough correct?)
Now I just wanted to make sure my settings are correct for this set up...
