mx63 cressida w58 swap help
I recently bought an 83 cressida with a bad auto transmission. Since I had a mkii parts car available, I thought I'd opt for a w58 swap, after bolting the engine to the w58 I realized it wasn't a direct swap. I've searched and find little info on this swap for this gen cressida, I really need some help here. I assumed the transmission and cross member would have the same bolt pattern, the first half shaft is also too short to bolt to the body of the cressida. The cross member seems too wide and even if I cut the bolt pattern to fit, (which could be done) only 2 bolts would be lined up instead of the 4 bolts from factory.
Would a mkiii w58 cross member and driveshaft work at this point, without sourcing a different transmission?'84 p-type stock with 5m-ge

Hate to tell ya but most people don't know a about the mx63's on CS.com. I had an Mx63 factory 5 speed and was mostly here for engine information and to meet some cool doods.
If you want my mx63 is sitting with a rod knock with a factory 5 speed w58, selling the entire car for $400.
If i cant sell it i'm parting it out, but that's not until the snow melts, and i live in the mountains so that takes until April.
Oh, im in Durango, Colorado, not Tucson.82 L Type

Man, that sucks. I've tried other forums but all i've gotten was really frustrated at the lack of info for this car.
I'd love to have that as a backup/parts car but i don't have the space right now and i'm a long ways away. Oh well, i'll try searching some more and then its up to try until i get it right.
But thank you for the reply'84 p-type stock with 5m-ge

How far off is the automatic crossmember from the transmission mount on the W58?
Driveshaft, I'm 90% certain you need the MK3 W58 front half. You just need to swap the carrier bearing and driveshaft flange over to the stock X63 stuff. You could probably get away with running two bolts only.
My X73 is only running 3 bolts but I have no idea which crossmember is in there. I bought the car as an incomplete project.
I also had swapped a motor on a 5 speed X63 so I have some experience with this car. My buddy still owns the car.1984 Supra P-type: 5MGE/W58 Swap/4.10 LSD. Cressida BBK. Under the knife for the winter.

Im doing the swap right now and the markiii supra tranny xmember doesn't work perfect either u can get 2 bolts in but it sits a little diagnal it will work u just gotta drill out 2 mor holes for it. As far as the driveiline im getting one custom made the markiii one wont work for me cause its way to short and there's no holes for the carrier bearing mount
What pedal are u using?

if its anything like the mx73 you will have to use the mk2 driveshaft from front to back if your already useing the mk2 drive shaft then id suggest getting a custom one built by a metal fab shop might be a bit pricey but will deal with the issue as for the cross member mine bolted right up no issues so id assume just make your own holes or hit up google to see what others have done i know in bc there is a guy who w58 swapped his mx63 and i think he 5mge swapped it to best of luck

Stock MX63 trans crossmember is the same for auto and manual trans cars, just flip the crossmember 180º, should line up fine. There are 6 holes in the frame rails, and flipping the crossmember lines it up with either the front 4, or back 4. That's how I did mine.
I was lucky to find a factory 5 speed car in the junkyard that I took the driveshaft from; I'm not sure what other ones will work.
