    suprahot's progress

Ok I have a introduction thread and a picture thread now this will be my ongoing official supra thread. Not really a build thread just a thread to update time to time on it's progress.

Thanks to supradad for the sunroof handle trim, trunk lock and under hood light.

Trunk lock before. Looks like someone used elmers glue on the trim.

After. I cleaned it up a bit but now the black plastic trim seal is flapping on the wind.

The under hood light was missing completely including the plug.

Slightly different color for the sunroof handle trim but I dont care.

Thanks to suprabee for the 3 piece cargo screen set and the 4 switches. My cruise control didn't work and I noticed one day the light on the cruise control switch came on intermittently and when its on the cruise control works so I just need to fiddle with it to make it work until I replace the switch.

Pics of the cargo set will be posted after I fix the 3 leaks in the trunk and put it back together.

The wipers started coming on when they wanted to so now that will be the next thing to fix. And now they wont park they just try to park and make a clicking noise. It should be easier then the ongoing leaks I hope.

Is the wiper relay behind the right side kick panel?

I cant find A factory service manual is it basically the same as the celica but with accompanying supra supplement?

yep thats about it, the original owner of mine bought all of the manuals. Celica-Supra should all have their own Supra books except for chassis/body which is Celica only i believe

Well I unplugged the wiper relay for about a week and this made the wipers only come on in the fast setting. I believe the fast setting bypasses the relay. Anyway I plugged the relay back in and now they work fine. We had a couple dry days so I think that did the trick for now.

And now they decided to come back on.

The wiper issue seems to be a somewhat common one. I never had it myself (used to have an 81 and a 79) but I've heard of other people having it. I never found out what the problem was though or how the person fixed it. I may have to dig through some old threads.

I know my 84 Supra had the wipers get stuck halfway through a wipe and wouldn't move unless you helped them and I had to replace the wiper motor/transmission assembly with a new one to fix it.

Hi Judy if you're following Not much to mention but we bought a dashmat for $70. Also decided to paint the rear black hatch panel. The cruise control does work after finding out the switch is touchy.

    * Good judgment comes from experience, and a
lotta that comes from bad judgment.

    * Lettin' the cat outta the bag is a whole lot
easier than puttin' it back in.

it was... by the end of the mark I run, the rear wiper, sunroof, leather, stereo choices, automatic transmission, and rear window "shade" kit were the only options that weren't either lumped into the performance package or the convenience package (cruise, auto a/c, power windows and locks)... but those remained as individual options throughout the year range.
