Question Whats a good oil filter relocation kit? so many to choose from.

hey guys! as the title states im looking for an oil filter relocation kit. any suggestions? i have herd some really bad things about Trans-Adapt. i dont want the orange ones on ebay.... dont want to spend a ton of cash either.

considering getting the Hayden plates from summit? anyone know if those are any good?

as of now my plain is to just buy the plates and pick up an oil-cooler separately. then once i get everything mounted up where i want it i think i am going to take the high-pressure hydraulic line route.

anybody know of a really good set of plates? Where to buy them? What size do i need?

this is for a 7M-GTE by the way.

also, wouldn't mind snagging a used setup if anybody has some to get rid of hit me up!

    thanks!

The actual adapter parts on most kits are decent quality - I polished up the block adapter face for a better seal on the O-ring since it is hard to access once the engine is all put in and plumbed.

The crappy part is always the lines - I stay away from the push lock fittings, and upgrade everything to AN-10 braided stainless lines. They are the oil pipes, and it is very easy to lose an engine if one pops off, springs a leak or gets pinched.

i dont think i can afford to go AN fittings with braided lines. i also dont really care what it looks like. that is why i was thinking about having high-pressure lines pressed on. like the ones used for power steering. i was thinking that might save me a buck and still keep my oiling system safe.

does anybody have any good suggestions on what plates to buy?

The Mr Gasket relocation kit from Summit is pretty decent, uses 5/8ths (I think...) hose and clamps. Worked out good on my car, not flashy or anything like that, just did what it was suppose to do

Yeah if you can get good hydraulic lines made - make sure they have a decent ID size, and there is no danger of them getting pinched.

I've never heard anything negative about the transadapt stuff. Same goes for Hayden. As far as relocation kits are concerned, I simply don't get why one would even do it. Putting the car on stands, pulling and IC pipe for an oil filter replacement isn't much work at all. When you use a relocation kit, you introduce the possibility of a lot more leaks, at each one of the new joints. I'd spend my money on something else.

I used it partly so that I could have a big, full flow cooler, and also so that I can fit a larger filter.

the cooler is also why i wanted to do it. i mean ease of oil changes would be an added perk but i was really i it for the cooler. it gets pretty hot here and i am going to DD this supra. that said though i think i will hold off until i know i can afford to really do it right.
