Chirping (cricket-like) noise from center console.

There is a chirping noise coming from my center console, it sounds like a cricket, but wih no pause, its just a continuous noise and its driving me insane! Well... its driving my wife insane, who in turn, drives me insane by always saying "fix it, its pissing me off". So, my question is, have any of yall run into this problem before? I see something to the right of the e-brake handle, you can see it after removing the mirror switch in the center console, and im thinking thats it, but not so sure. Its an 84 p type.

get out your phillips screwdriver and remove the console and look for that cricket. It only takes a minute. Don't forget to open the console to get the screw going straight down, the others are on the sides outside the console.

Lol. Funny thread... the only clicking/noise is behind the dash. Must have crickets hiding in your console! lol

Could be something got lodged in the auto-temp module...(little fan thingy)

What do you mean by "continuous". When the car is moving? Idling? Reving the engine while parked? Coasting with the engine off? Increase or decrease with speed or any other variable?
Cricket's make that noise by rubbing their legs together, so it might be possible that a dead cricket could make the noise continuously due to vibration...

It happens when the car is off or on, driving or idling.
