Def agree take tranny out with motor, however its faster and easier to have a buddy stand on the back of the tranny long enough for you to squeeze it past that tight point. If you are just looking to flip the car then I guess OEM Toyota parts are meaningless, but if you want reliability than go OEM as some of it is not as expensive as you would think through the right channels. This is not just for Toyota but all cars, you don't know how many lifetime waterpumps I have bought from advance and Autozone that have lasted less than 10k miles regardless of what car they where for, these places cannot be blamed as they cater towards what everyone demands, the cheapest.
For super cheap real OEM parts I always go through Curt at Elmhurst, you just have to have the part number and post a thread here http://www.supraforums.com/forum/for...-Toyota-Scion& for a quote, call him after quote and its on your doorstep in 2 days. This message will self destruct

So i got the motor back in and running, strangely the gas tank in the 5 speed was TERRIFICALLY rustedbut the tank in the auto was clean as a whistle so i used it witha new pump and sender, i have driven it back and forth to spokompton 8 or 10 times, its really an amazing little car,
Needs some work:
-this car was parked for and extended amount of time and has developed a pretty funky smell that i have worked on quite a bit.
-it has kicked off a cel and acts to me like it has a vacuum leak.
-i think it needs upgraded brakes and upgraded suspension but im still researching.
i'll post pics later.
