I'm about to begin restoration and customization of my 1980 Supra. What I am looking for most are links to specialized equipment such as upgraded manual transmissions and posi-traction. Perhaps high performance engines. It's a fine road car. Nice and stable at high speed. The dashboard design, however, really sucks a big one. The 1980 instruments are terrible. Going to go with an entirely new cluster on texturized aluminum with the tach in the center. The other thing that irks me is that plainly this car (or at least the trans) was designed for Japan as the shifter leans slightly towards the right seat. I'll remove it, heat it and set it to the left. The car runs now but I am going to strip it, body off frame and begin fresh. I tend to like the maroon color of my '05 Tundra so maybe I'll go with that.
I am toying with the idea of copying the old Sunbeam Tiger by using a small Ford V8. I think it was the same engine that was used in Mercury Comets way back when the rinky dink six cylinders were not "making the magic happen". The Brits had the right idea but by that time Japan autos pulled out in front and left them behind.
cheers to everyone...

Why a small Ford v8? Why not a Toyota 2jz, 1JZ or 7mgte? JZ motors def have more power than what a small ford can even be built up to..
