    Keep it?

I have an 84 mkII supra that I have had now for 3 months just sitting in the driveway and have finally gotten a 5mge engine for it (the other has a really bad lower knock from the prior owner). I have many people telling me to restore it the best I can and sell it for a higher price. I have been reading a lot about these supras and have really been impressed with the amount of information I have learned. The only problem is...should I keep it and continue to make modifications to it or just sell it after I have restored it to stock modifications. I am going to get another vehicle for the track regardless. What do you think would be the best option: keep it and continue to modify it to use on the track, or sell it and look for another vehicle? I really need a lot of information to understand the perks of keeping it or not too.

Track? These cars are 30+ year old technology, save for a few bits and pieces from our sponsors have almost zero aftermarket support and if you crash it, that's the end of it because there are no parts to fix it. The people who play with these cars do it because they have some emotional tie to them, not for any practical reasons. If you have to ask the question, you don't love it like we do. Get a fox-body Mustang of the same price range, order all the parts you want out of the Summit and Late Model Restoration catalogs and knock yourself out at the track.

Ok I appreciate. since you have such an emotional tie to them would you like to take it off my hands. I'm asking 3000 as is if that appeals to you.

That would have to be a sweet looking garage queen to be asking $3,000 for it, with a knock.
Even if you put a good running stock 5mge engine back in it and it ran great, it's still high.
If it's running good and looking great then sure, start off and ask for the $3,000.
But take any offers you get over $2,200, or you'll be fixing something else next month. LOL
