I chimed in early on this argument, and stated it didn't suit my tastes. But if a GM with an aluminum block is lighter than a 2JZ that deserves some consideration I must admit. Me personally, when someone opens the hood and a common 350 Chevy with the seemingly manditory Edlebrock intake a 600 cfm carb staring at me makes me go ho-hum. And I've been there and done it on other cars. I guess I'm at the point I want something a little more refined. Right now I'm looking at a 2JZ NA swap with a W58. Nothing radical and certainly not ground breaking. If I stay non turbo and use a W58 will I keep the weight down? And what do you guys think would get the best mileage: the swap I just described or an aluminum GM with the factory fuel injection? If it weighs less and gets as good of mileage as the 2JZ NA I'm not so closed minded as to not look at that option.

Get a 1JZ, I was surprised not so long ago. I did mostly highway with a bit of city and I got 29-30 mpg! (Well, not too much boost...)

    ...350≠LS1.

As for gas mileage, depends heavily on r&p, trans and driving style.

Sure, I understand, all things being equal is the question.

swapping in a GM V8 would get around those pesky igniters we cant seam to replace fast enough.... if your car broke down on a road-trip you could bank on fixing it at damn near any junk yard in the states. and that empty space where your ECU used to be would make a nifty stash spot. "ponders wether or not a full-frame 1911 would fit in there"
The Supra is gone... What a fun project!

Interesting, but my Ruger LCP fits fine in my pocket. Oklahoma is a concealed carry state.

Amazing how the engineers here on the forum all agree that the LSX is a better performance platform than any other cheaply available in the US, but others still continue to rabble innacurate information to advocate against them. I highly doubt alot of people who are hating on domestic V8's in Toyotas have never ridden in a car with 400 NA HP on tap with a flick of the throttle, and an equally impressive and fun torque curve.

The new LS3 6.2L,is even a better motor than either the LS1or2.Just goes to show that big fun can be had in many, many platforms.Any swap is a good thing. But what are we talking now,MPG or HP?Who gives a rats twat what milage I get,you play, you pay.Simple.I built a fast car, just for that fact,so it would be fast.Fast is fun any way you get there.
