toyota celica 85 defroster not working

hi i have a red 85 toyota celica supra and its in the sun for like 4-6 yrs and the dash was crack so the other day i replace it but first the defroster was working perfectly but when i have the new dashboard on then the defroster wont work but the others work. im meaning that it works to the feet and in front of u but when i turn it to the defroster to the windshield it wont turn up while i was fixing a white plug pop out. what can i do?

take the dash out again and see if you forgot to replace the vent that routes the air to the defroster.
