Kentucky New Member
Greetings,
New member here, found the site researching a purchase I just made, and some fixes it might need. Just purchased a beautiful 1983 MkII 5M, outside has been painted in the last few years, gloss black, but the interior is all original, save for the stereo (which I also have), that was changed out to a newer tuner. Original motor, that could use some beautification, is strong with 133K original miles. The tranny needed some billyM bushings, which are on the way. Only plans I have for the moment are possibly a cold air intake (suggestions?) and an exhaust replacement (removing the cat), could use any suggestions for parts and performance anyone wants to share. Love this site already, spending a lot of time here, rather than practicing my guitar and vocals!! Anyone interested the site is thebenjamindavisgroup dot com. I'll post pics for anyone interested, also have an album on my profile.
Thanks,

Beautiful MK2 you have there. There are some really good threads on how to clean the engine bay. If the valve cover gaskets are hard, that's a nice thing to change and put a coat of wrinkle black on them while you are at it. It looks like you have a decent car to work with. You will discover that many trim parts (exterior) have been discontinued over the past several years, so take an inventory of what you might need and keep an eye out. Mark Sherman of Vancouver Toyota has some great posts (he's in the vendor section) that have part numbers for hoses, trim pieces and just generally the stuff you may need to replace.
Bad decisions make the BEST stories.
